WASHINGTON — Senator Dean Heller’s biting denunciation of the Republican health care bill last week infuriated the White House and helped unravel his party’s attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act days before a vote was expected in the Senate.

Now Mr. Heller is facing an intense backlash in Nevada, his home state, where there is talk of a primary race challenge against him next year and a pair of the state’s wealthiest Republican donors are fuming.

America First Policies, a nonprofit group created to back President Trump’s agenda, suspended its advertising campaign against Mr. Heller after he agreed to attend a West Wing meeting on the health bill and after a group of Republican senators in attendance complained about the commercials. But Mr. Heller, perhaps the most vulnerable Republican senator on the ballot next year, has by no means escaped the wrath of Mr. Trump and his vocal supporters, including two billionaire casino magnates, Sheldon G. Adelsonand Steve Wynn.

As I have said before both Repuicans and Democrats are looking at health care the wrong way. I don't support this bill and I don't support Obamacare. Both parties are coming up with bills only addressing how to control the medical industrial complex made up of insurance companies and big pharma along with other groups who concentrate on treating illness rather than preventing it. For the most part their goal is making as much money as possible with the most expensive treatments possible. I don't claim to have all the answers on this issue but I know it is cheaper to prevent illness than to treat it. We should also be using natural medicine more. There are natural treatments out there more effective than some pharmaceuticals for a fraction of the cost.

I agree primary care is paramount, it is what all Americans need, this is why countries with universal health care have far better outcomes than the USA because the system is primarily set up for prevention.

There was in fact 20 to 25 real votes fir thus bill. Besides the 4 centrist republicans from swing states you had 3 folks who favored straight repeal which brought you down to 43. Most of the folks unsure about the bill were not going to be vocal about it.

 

Heller, Murkowski and Collins will be in the drivers seat when after the recess tge acha goes in for an overhaul and compromise with democrats . Funny because they were excluded from the club of 20 men that put the senate bill together.
