Police check for cr-1 from foreign country

Hi there, just looking to see if anyone knows the answer to this as I called uscis and they could not answer. 

 I need a police report for time spent living in Germany, but It was with a previous marraige and living on a uk military base. 

When I go to the website to get the check they want my passport notorised but it's now in my maiden name. 

Do I just attatch a letter stating so or will the names be an issue. ?

I'm in the process of getting my Führungszeugnissen,  If you're abroad, you first need to have your info and signature authenticated, then send the application along with a copy of the payment (bank transfer).

I did that too and it was a pretty easy process. They also put your maiden name on the certificate

Yea, its relatively easy. I went to Germany embassy where my signature was authenticated. Filled the application there and then sent it via normal mail. And I think 2 weeks later or so, I received the document.

 

Another question, probably also related to that. Any idea when police certificate from Germany would expire? Is it 6 months or 1 year?

If you no longer live in Germany it never expires. They only expire from the country where you currently live. 

 

I also needed one from Germany but fortunately I had one that I applied for several years earlier when I became a foster parent in the U.K. and police certificates and record checks were needed (for obvious reasons). I used the same one despite having been married and changed my name twice since it was issued. No problem at all. The certificate was almost 10 years old that I submitted.
