Question about new i-130 and i-130a

Hi there!

 

This is our first post but I have been reading this forum every day for the last 4 months and It has been priceless when it comes to understanding this whole visa journey (From hell). We are getting ready to start the CR-1 process by submitting the i130 package which now includes the i-130 A form. The guide section, while very useful, it not updated to the new forms so we are hoping to get your input on a little debate we are having.  We have a question regarding the employment and address history and how to continue them in the "Additional Information" page.

 

So this is the address history question/section that provides two main subsections: Physical Address 1 and Physical Address 2. The employment one follows pretty much the same format.

 

The problem we have is that we would need Physical Address 3, Physical Address 4, Physical Address 5. And the same with Employment. The prompt tells you to use the space provided in "Part 7: Additional Information" if you are lacking space. Now... this is Part 7:

 

 

Now as you can see, in order to provide additional details it asks for the Page Number, Part Number and Item Number. Now while, the page number is clear. We are uncertain as to what to write on the part and item number. It would be wrong to state that the Part and Item Number is, for example: "4.a." as that would mean that we need to further give detail into Physical Address 1 when in reality we need a whole new "Physical Address 3" section. We are shipping our whole package from Argentina which is VERY expensive so we would like to avoid any possible mistakes and we are banging our heads with this one. Are we overthinking this? Should be leave it blank? N/A?

Then on the lines specify:

I'm a little confused. Why would it be part 1? or item 4-7? The address part starts at number 4 and the items are letters not numbers...

Part 1 starts on page 1 and goes on until the top of second column of page 2. The letters are just subsections of the items, which are numbers.

It would be 4-7 because those are the item numbers for additional adresses - on item 8 it starts with the latest one which can only be one adress of course.

I would just put the part number and type Address or an abbreviation.  When they see you've entered an address history, they won't care about the page or item number.

 

These new forms can be very confusing.  Make sure you understand who they are asking about in each case, as it's hard to follow.  For example, it is the petitioner's height, weight, eye and hair color being asked for, etc.
