Lets just put it this way, the CEO would have received no golden parachute (the reward for sucking at his job), company would have filed Chapter 11 to pay off their debts, and would still have working production. But sure, let Uncle Sam pay the rich guy's golden parachute.. we iz doing it for da workur.

The CEO would have been fine either way. The only difference is that ordinary workers would have been screwed over even more. Not that you would care. Just cut the time people can claim unemployment, and abrakdabra the problem is solved. Out of sight, out of mind. American capitalism, where the rich always win, and the poor pay the price. Another positive, is that the Republican party may even ironically gain a few more voters, who believe that the government can't do anything right.

If you hate capitalism (whatever is left in the US) you could always move to socialist utopia Venezuela.

So the solution is to just bail them out every time they need bailing out, and inbetween, they can just do whatever they want because they're going to end up getting uncle Sam's money anyway. What a great, thoughtful solution - how come I didn't think of that? Or maybe, instead of constantly accusing people of "not caring about the ordinary workers", we should seriously ponder the possibility that they will end up benefiting from this by working for a better, more stable company and probably even making more money. A company the government is preventing from even existing by keeping afloat failed ones.

I don't have any real stats to back this up, but if not for the truck market I think the American car makers might be in trouble.

Not so much a fan of German automakers. I think Benz use to be the bomb,  back in the day. Not so much respect in auto circles now.

Audi is a really good car.

BMW is a fair car , but we see lots of people dumping them around 40k when they figure out how much it costs to work on them

I got a buddy just got a 160k Acura. Not something I would do if I had that kind of spare change lying around.

I agree and I do have stats. And as a car salesperson I would brace for a much softer market over the next few years if I were you.

Oh lawt. I pray your wrong. The lenders are lending like crazy.  I am seeing the secondary market approving some sub 500s.  I joked with a manager the other day. Should I have them install a repo hook on the front end of the car

We can laugh but unfortunately it's beyond praying at this point.
