Asking for a friend.

my friend came here  3 years ago (06/2014) when she was 20 yrs old. (Parent petitioned her). Her and her boyfriend (Us citizen) is planning to get married this year. Can she apply for citizenship after marriage?

To become a USC she must first be a permanent resident (green card holder) for five years or 3 years if married to a USC for the whole of that time. She will need to be married for 3 years before she can apply or a resident for 5 years if not applying based on marriage (that will probably happen first so she may want to pursue that route).

No, she can't. In order to be eligible to apply for US citizenship after 3 years, she would've had to be married to the same US citizen for 3 years.

She will be eligible to apply after 5 years of being a LPR, no matter if she marries her boyfriend before then.

Not in her situation, no. What's the hurry? She can apply in March 2019, less than 2 years from now (90 days before the fifth anniversary of her becoming a permanent resident).

She wants to bring her mom here.
