Tom Cruise's annoying Irish accent from Far and Away.

It has to be one of the worst Irish accents in movie history.

Even worse when they try get an Irish born actor to over emphasize the accent, Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan both guilty as charged. My in laws normally ask me to slow down, they reckon I speed talk. It's funny when I get in full flow and you can see the dazed look on the opposite person just not catching a word of what I am saying  :jest:

You could argue that. I'm not a supporter of most aspects of sanctuary cities so by and large I have no problem with whatever methods need to be used to get them to comply so long as it's constitutional. At this point, I'm not buying that it's not, although I haven't had a chance to look into all the specifics of the EO yet. The first judge that ruled on the travel ban, I had no problem with because that was a badly thought out EO and I think most of us here admitted it. The second time, I thought they made many positive changes and it seemed a little petty but whatever. This one is really starting to just feel like a gang up. We'll see how it all works out I guess, but if I were them I'd keep my powder dry for a while.

Gregg Jarrett: Judge who blocked Trump's sanctuary city order should have recused himself

This should be an easy appeal in the appellate court, though given it's the 9th I don't expect the outcome to change when the "stay" request is reheard. And as for the judge not recusing himself when he very clearly should have, for the first time he did not recuse himself when he should have, he should have been sanctioned. This time, I'd suggest impeachment.

Jarrett's opinion looks like a million rubber bands stretched from here to the moon. He used every last straw in the swamp, but the fact remains there is legal precedent set by the SCOTUS that prohibits the federal government from commandeering state and local police. The majority opinion in the case was written by none other than Justice Scalia. It's remarkable in this alternate fact reality when the MDRs are supporting federal intervention at the state level.

Texas House Passes Bill to Jail ‘Sanctuary’ Sheriffs, Police Chiefs

The Texas House passed a tough anti-sanctuary bill containing provisions making it a crime for sheriffs and chiefs of police to refuse to cooperate with immigration officials. They could also be removed from office for providing “sanctuary” for the criminal illegal aliens in their jails.

Odd. No one had issues when Obama wanted to block federal funding to schools that did not support bathroom choice.

Yeah, this is exactly why Trump, Sessions, et al. will succeed. There's nothing unconstitutional whatsoever about this, and the states and local jurisdictions may want to re-educate themselves about their role in immigration, which is to say, they have no say.

In Obama's case the precedent was the opposite. It was aimed at states not abiding by the constitution.

In the case of the so-called sanctuary city the legal precedent comes from a majority SCOTUS ruling, written by Scalia.

You make a good point however, that the argument "but Obama did it" doesn't hold water when you look at the facts and merits of each case.

There's no ambiguity about the Presidents constitutionality of his immigration EO's:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1182

Quote

(f)Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

There is no ambiguity that states and local jurisdictions must comply with federal laws on immigration. As the enforcer of those laws, the President has every authority to withhold funds from those who refuse to follow federal law, especially in matters the federal government has sole authority over. There is no win from the left on this. They are entirely in the wrong in every facet of this situation regarding immigration.

I would advise they learn more about the Constitution and learn how to follow it. It's there for a reason.
