How long does it take to get inquiry response?

Hi everyone! I was researching about this but couldn't really get a concrete answer.

 

My partner and I filed for K1 in December 2016, and we got our NOA1 on January 5. We haven't heard back from USCIS yet (is this a regular waiting time btw? I know it's different for everyone). He put in an online inquiry a week or so ago. Was he supposed to get some sort of confirmation email that the inquiry was received? And how long does it usually take for them to respond?

 

Also, is it possible to get a hold of someone by calling the NCSC?

 

Thanks in advance! We feel a little impatient, but I realize that these things take a really long time - I just wish we knew what they're doing. We've been assigned to the California Service Center, btw.

Not really sure how long it takes to receive a response from an online inquiry, but I know there is also a phone number to call to speak to someone about your case. That might get you an answer faster. They are still processing a large number of December files, so the wait is frustrating, but normal. The 'average' time for NOA2 response has been around 90 days recently, but a lot of us December and some November filers have been waiting 120+ days. It's frustrating, but since the USCIS average processing time is listed at around 6 months, usually inquires go unanswered until you pass the date listed on the official USICS processing timeline site.
