Applied for removal of conditions 1 year ago, they ask for additional evidence but now I qualify for Naturalization. What to do?

Hello!

Just wanted to update everyone on my situation.

I ended up going for an infopass at my local office because my one-year extension had expired and I needed another one.

The lady was nice and helpful, she asked for my passport, which I didn't have, because it didn't say I had to have it and frankly for USCIS I have not needed it since I entered the country on the K-1 visa that first time, so that was a bit of a shock. Anyway, she said if I didn't have it I would need to provide 2 passport style photos and she could staple those to an extension notification. Or I could just drive home and get my passport and she would stamp the extension directly there (no photos needed).

After 3 years of fear of losing my green card every time I travel, I decided that to have everything in one place was better, so I drove home and grabbed my passport.

She put a stamp on it that gave me a 1-year extension since the day of my visit to USCIS.

Also, she took my green card.

 

Regarding the RFE, I asked if any of the things they requested were mandatory and she said no, unless the notification clearly stated so. She said she could not give me any advice as to what to do or which paperwork to send but she did explain that the list they send is what they see most often as primary evidence.

She also explained to me that the RFE in my case is because all the things I sent the first time are considered "secondary evidence".

Looking back, I wish I would have taken longer to research the ROC process, it probably would have saved me 8 months. Hindsight is 20/20.

 

Anyway, RFE packet has been sent and received, but no word yet (it has been less than a week, though). I hope my experience helps others!

Another update!

I received my I-797 yesterday, only 10 days after I sent the RFE paperwork!

Did they make me wait a year, so I wonder if that is why now they are moving things quickly for me. 

The notice says congratulations and that my conditions are lifted and my new permanent resident card should arrive in the mail within 60 days.

 

On the other hand, last week I received my NOA for the N400 stating that I have been scheduled for biometrics in about 10 days. This one actually arrived before the lifting of conditions were granted, so I was a bit nervous about that. 

I wanted to write this down, perhaps it will help someone else down the line.

This is great!!! Very very rarely VSC responds to an RFE this fast. Don't worry about the timeline which NOA arrived first. Good luck in the rest of your N400 journey, you won't have to worry about the I-751 portion anymore.

You actually don't need letters from 3 people. Those are among the weakest evidence to submit and should only be done if you have literally nothing else to provide. For removal of conditions, the number 1 thing they need is proof of co-mingling finances.

You don't need mortgages or loans but are both your names listed on car/home deeds or rental? As for the tax stuff, maybe get transcripts from the IRS websites, since they say they want proper IRS paperwork? Transcripts are proof taxes were indeed filed.

They are also very easy to order from the IRS and are a LOT less paperwork that the full returns!

Sorry! I was obviously responding to older portions of this thread. Congrats! It is not at all unusual for things to move fast after an RFE has been responded to because your file had gone through the sitting time and was actually opened. Now it is time to study those civics questions! Best of luck to you.

Another short update. I just checked My Case Status and it says the following:

 

On August 22, 2017, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number ---. We will send you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. 

Roughly 3 months from Biometrics notice.
