Police Certificates need to be sealed?

Hi All,

 

I am wondering if police certificates need to be in a sealed envelope for the interview? I have one from Bahrain and I'm not sure whether it has an English translation, but I'm afraid to open the packet in case police certificates need to be sealed! If anyone knows what the protocol is for international police certificate that would be very helpful, or if anyone knows the best number to call to find out!

It says you're from Canada?  

My Canadian fiance had her interview this past April 19th, and I attended.  We submitted her Canadian police certificate, and it was not in a sealed envelope.   We had no issues and her Visa was approved.  

We did ask for 2 copies of her police certificate.  We kept one for our records and the 2nd gave to immigration.

Mine (from Canada) did not come in a sealed envelope and it wasn't a big deal. The only thing that needed to be sealed was the medical record. I'd think the risk of getting an RFE because the certificate didn't come with an English translation would be greater than the risk of leaving it sealed. Open it, check to make sure there's an English version (and get one if there isn't), scan it into your computer so you have a copy, then carry on with your processing!

It's a bit different for me since as a CR1 application, we in Canada send everything in as PDFs and then bring the originals to the interview, so I would have HAD to open it in order to send the scan.

Mine have been opened as I had to send a photocopy to NVC with my IV package.  However my 3rd police certificate (I've lived in 3 countries for more than 12 months) went straight to the embassy and I never saw it.  
The "collect supporting documents" page should tell you if your countries police certs have special requirements. Here's the link.  Or contact your embassy and ask :-)
