hello everyone

what do u think about this

if immigration is legalised cant the illegal immigration be stopped

definetely security checks should always be there for sure ..

There are a number of undocumented immigrants in this country who have family that are either USC or in legal status. Fixing the immigration process to accomodate families would lower the number of illegals. The process is costly, difficult to navigate and long- something shoudl be done for these cases.

Yes, something should be done. Stop according US citizenship to children born to people in the country as visitors or illegally. No more anchor babies, no more worries along those lines. That'd be something I, as a US taxpayer could applaud.

thats true people come as visitors and born babies in us and this matter should be looked into

i know couple of people who have done this personally

i am against this

we the legal ones keep waiting and wasting our time , money , also mental tensions

and those people very easily go in visitor visas and born children in u.s

just deport them all...if they see they will be deported they wont keep coming....whats the use?

easier said than done. this needs to be done on a consistent basis for the message to get across. i agree with reinhard too...those anchor babies should not be accorded us citizenship. that might send a strong message too.

Unfortunately the clowns we have running the USA are dumb and getting dumber. They keep doing the same stupid stuff and expecting a different outcome. That is insane (and stupid)!

There have been 7 amnesties of illegal aliens since 1986 and the problem keeps getting worst. If you keep doing what you always did...your gonna get what you always got.

Already the legislations being debuted in both the US House and Senate as "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" are in actuality just more of the same amnesty ####### doled out to reward illegal aliens and corporate America for breaking the law.

Don't believe me? Here is the proof:

http://www.numbersusa.com/interests/amnesty_print.html

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

we should have an immigration system to encourage people with high level of education, high job skills (engineering, scientists, doctors), people with high net worth (assets, moneys) to come, to work, to invest, to contribute to our tax base. we should not have the present system whereby majority of the new comers are illiterate (even in their own native language), no education and do the "work american won't do...."

i am actually of the opinion that we need to increase the quota for the people listed above but restrict automatic granting visas for people just using family or marriage relations.

Just a thought here....my husband, as I'm sure many others on here are too, is educated. He has a degree in Network Administration. He *wants* to work in his field. It just isn't happening. Unless you are able to come here on a work visa sponsored by a particular company, I just don't see the door being open in the areas you've mentioned so freely. At present, he is working but in a job that he really didn't want to take. Fortunately he enjoys it, but he would like to work in the area in which he was educated. High net and assets....that's interesting too. So are you saying the only ones that should be immigrating here are the ones that can "contribute" a great deal to this society?

that was my thoughts as well charles...at least i've not seen where any of this is automatic. increase the quota for the people listed above...what does that mean exactly?

Eh it's just another case of someone having a 'sort of' idea of the system.

Nothing is automatic, but.....there is no 'cap' to the number of marriage-based visas that can be issued annually, compared to caps for employment based visas and the like. I'm guessing the comment means the number of family based visas should be limited? Now that'd be a big hit around here....

The system certainly doesn't encourage or discourage illiteracy. In fact, it doesn't address it at all. Unless the comment was meant to imply 'illegal immigration' - which isn't a part of the 'system' last time I looked.

Have to say I agree with this. America right now has the ability to pick and choose the best and the brightest to come here. Yet, they'd rather give out Green Card via a lottery than to people who might actually give the country some value. Personally as someone who came here with a PhD and has served a US federal government agency in the 8 years I have been here, I am personally disgusted that the easiest way for me to get a Green Card was through my marriage to a USC, rather than through my profession.

Might have a hard time getting people here on board with restricting marriage based visa! I'm personally all for scrapping Green Cards for Parents and Siblings however, I just don't get why if I become a US Citizen, that should get my brother a Green Card, regardless of the wait, it just makes no sense to me. The only reason I can see giving Green Cards for parents is I guess if you want to take care of them in old age. Even given that I'll stick my neck out and say that I think Green Cards through marriage should only be given out to spouses and non-adult children.
