Depends how many months he stayed out of the US, if only like weeks then he should be fine applying N-400

Yes you can apply for your N-400 even if your ROC case is still pending, but you must met all other rules. 

And his outside trip won't affect his N-400, also if he mets all other rules.

if your husband completed the 18 months being here in the US from the day he became CR under the 3 year rule application of N-400 then he should be fine.

If he be inside US more than 6 months per one year, he will be fine.

Hi. I hope someone can help me here. I stupidly legally changed my name while waiting for my ROC. Due to this I am unable to update my SSN name and the new card is taking forever. SSN will not change my name until I get a new immigration document with my new name on it. Does anyone know how this may effect my job applications? I am looking to get a new job.

make an infopass and get a I-551 stamp, the said stamp serves as green card, make sure the name on your passport is the same on the name that you changed recently.

Unfortunately I would have to legally change my name at my home country to do that and that will require me to be physically overseas for 4-5 months.

Yes, my husband received a letter.  Months ago there was an update that said they transferred our case.  We never received a letter, but it didn't say we would get one either.  It just said our case was transferred to our local office.  Then, on May 1 we received another update, and it (the online and email notification) said we would be getting a letter.  That arrived yesterday.  On May 3 we received yet another update, and it said we would also be getting a letter.  We are waiting for that one now.

Just 2 months is very fine, don't worry. 

You should read an know all required things, and the rules of the citizenship.

No news from me. Got my passport stamp last month, renewed my address online and by mail for my husband/ sponsor and the waiting game continues. Since I don't even have my GC anymore, I don't even know if I should file the N400 or not. I do have photocopies of it but I am unsure if I can write down the dates I had on it or not. (I think the date I became a lawful resident is the one that was shown on my GC)

So today I went into the field office in Salt Lake City to get my extension for the 1 year extension (1 week after first extention expired) . Even though the online system says my case was transferred to the field office it is still in California due to a system glitch back in Febuary. Also, he told that CSC is so backed up they are working on October right now and we can wait at least another 6 to 8 months till they will get to March 2017. I got my stamp in the passport but I got to keep my Greencard, he told me they are not taking them away since you never know what people want to see. The young man was very nice, answered all my questions and it was super fast. 15 min tops. Well, my fellow CSC people, let's keep waiting haha
