Traveling with I-512 Advance Parole

Hey guys, I am currently adjusting my status via marriage. I filed the I-765, I-131, and I-485. I received my EAD with I-512 advance parole back in November. I traveled to Mexico and back to the USA, Austin being the POE, without any problems back in January.

I am wanting to travel outside of the country again, but given the current immigration situation here in the USA, it does raise some questions whether I should or not.

Has anyone traveled outside of the country and back in using an EAD with Advance Parole?

Any help or insights would be really helpful.

Thank you

I advise against traveling without a green card currently.

Ebunoluwa is 100% spot-on and correct!  In light of the recent current Presidential administrations immigration edits, it is not advisable to risk traveling prior to you recieve your approved documents .  Risking POE denial at this juncture is unwise and highly inadvisable!

No, but we are advising that people from certain countries and nationalities need to follow the political changes very closely to make sure that when they want to travel they aren't risking denied entry. Though the travel ban has been overturned there are always rogue border agents doing what they want under the blanket of discretion. Who knows what will happen while you are out of the country in regards to a new "policy" coming into play ? Why risk it ? My husband's AOS has been pending for almost 2 years and he will not travel until green card in hand. Why jeopardizing all we have worked so hard for to be together ? Nothing is more important. For most people it is no problem to use their travel permit, use your own judgement. Many are fine with it and some were not and we can't see into the future. There are no guarantees, it's your gamble.

I know what you mean but I guess we just see things from a different point of view, in my case I am not willing to give up my rights just because I am scared (and my wife understands and supports that). That said, I am not saying that I can not see the reason for other points of view about the issue, we are all concerned.

This is just ridiculous, sad and scary for all of us.

OP's flag is Mexico, yours is Spain. Again, watch the political currents. Just today Trump stated at a press conference
that he will roll out a new executive order / travel ban by next week.

We all have to decide what is more important, proving a point that you will travel with AP or prioritizing by staying put.

You have no rights to be let back into the USA, it is not a right and border control has the final say. It is a benefit that is
used on the authority of discretion.
Having said that you will probably be ok to travel to Spain with AP today. Tomorrow ? I don't know.
I have heard Trump say that French and Germans should probably also be vetted more closely due to the
Syrian refugees the countries accepted. It is a personal decision and I gladly surrender a benefit to remain together.
I am all for principle but in this case proving a principle is just not worth it.
I have experienced a personal visa journey from hell that lasted for 5 years and seems to be a repeat with AOS
and I know what it feels like to be separated for a very long time.
By all means, if you feel you must travel go ahead. We are not.

Of course, I don't need your approval to do anything, and you don't need mine. We are discussing ideas, or I least I hope so... and my principles are worth to fight for if I consider so myself.

As you said, everything is about what every individual values most.

Venatore you are absolutely right!  However, in light that the OP aalonso93 is a Mexican citizen, it is especially prudent that he/she take no unnecessary chances, and wait until they have their green card is in hand.

I see your point guys, really...

I am half Spanish - half Colombian and of course sometimes  I feel privileged to have the chance to own a European passport, and I know a lot of fellow latin americans don't have that chance. But in the end, I don't even know if am am any safer than any other nationality given the cirmcunstances of the current administration. I just can't life my life scared.

Vengatore you are right on!  I am born USC, and there are no assurances and/or guarantees of hassle-free safe re-entry. This piece clearly high-lights that point =  http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/2/13/1633215/-Border-agents-detained-a-U-S-born-NASA-scientist-until-he-unlocked-his-phone-Know-your-rights?detail=email&link_id=6&can_id=bac2fcb59290320f3b6f28db10be1197&source=email-one-of-trumps-advisers-goes-around-wearing-a-nazi-collaborator-medal&email_referrer=one-of-trumps-advisers-goes-around-wearing-a-nazi-collaborator-medal&email_subject=one-of-trumps-advisers-goes-around-wearing-a-nazi-collaborator-medal

There is NOTHING more important than that ;)

We could start a thread about that and we could gather interesting information for all of us, and try to fight fear with knowledge.
