Questions concerning the citizenship

I hold a 10-year green card that i had after my marriage with a Us citizenship(Moroccan too) since 2008 in Morocco and I had my visa in 01/2011, after i came here we had some problems and he divorced me in Morocco in 08/2012, so that mean we stayed together here in USA almost 2 years plus 4 years in Morocco ,my question is if I will apply for my citizenship I will have problems on the day of my interview?

     I hope that someone can help me

As Georgia16 stated - if you have resided continuously in the US as a Permanent Resident, you can apply 90 days before your 5 year anniversary and that is the date on your Permanent Resident card.

 

You shouldn't have any issues filing as long as you are open and honest with the IO should they ask for further information on your circumstances.

Naturalization Journey (Based on 5 years as a PR):

November 21st 2016 - Sent N-400 to Dallas Lockbox.

November 30th - Check Cashed.

December 1st - Email/Text Notifications.

December 8th - Hardcopy of NOA received (Priority Date 11/25).

December 9th - Biometrics Appointment Letter received.

December 19th - Biometrics Appointment.

January 4th 2017 - "In Line" for Interview.

June 9th - Online status changed to "Interview was Scheduled".

June 12th - Interview Letter received.

July 19th - Interview (NYC). Requested a "delayed Oath" for after September 4th 2017.

September 11th - Oath Letter received. Honored my request for a delayed Oath Ceremony. 

September 14th - Oath Ceremony.

You make it sound like you abandoned your US residency 4 years ago.

Yeah. I can't tell if she lived in Morocco 4 years first and the US the last two years, or the US first and Morocco the last four years.

If you have lived in Morocco the last four years, then you've abandoned your green card and have no path for citizenship.

Thank you all for your replies, I lived in morocco the first 4 years and after 2 years here, I asked this question because i heard some rumors said that if i have not finished 3 years here(in USA) with my husband Before the divorce then I will have problems on the day of my interview because they will think that it wasn't a real marriage ..

I guess I'm not understanding still. You said that he divorced you in 2012, so you've been divorced for 4 or 5 years now. How long have you had your GC? When was it issued? 

If you're not married then you can't apply for citizenship under the 3 year rule, that's only for those STILL married. There isn't a citizenship divorce waiver. If you get divorced before you file for you try to naturalize at 3 years, then you have to wait until you have been an LPR for 5 years.


But by your timeline, it makes no sense. If you had your visa in 2011, and you came in on it. Did you go back to Morocco at some point?


The interviewing process may be more curious as to why you've been a GC holder for more than 5 years, but have only spent 2 of them in the US. Normally that would be grounds for giving up your green card.

Well if you've been an LPR for over 5 years then you can naturalized based on that. There shouldn't be any question about your ex other than that he brought you here. Your ex should have little to nothing to do with your naturalization, and shouldn't cause any issues unless there's something we don't know about.
