Look at the start date on your Green Card.  Add three years and subtract 90 days.

It's based on the date your AOS application was approved. Check your GC for that date. You're eligible to file three months before your 3rd year anniversary of  becoming a LPR assuming you're filing based on marriage to a U.S citizen.

@Sukie @Cowface and others who are interested in filing for Naturalization with I-751 still pending. Check out this post from a December 2015 VSC filer who filed  I-751 on December 17, 2015. Got approval letter  in the mail on Saturday 02/04/2017. The approval date of the letter is 02/01/2017. That filer applied for naturalization on December 15th 2016 at the suggestion of  USCIS officer at Infopass. Approval of I-751 took almost 14 months. Naturalization is still pending. Not sure if filing N-400 helped in this case.

You don't have to but it may help speedup the process.

I feel like if you file for naturalization beyond April 15 there's a good chance they'll require 2016 taxes. At least, I remember this happening back with the I-130 filings - people who could conceivably have their tax returns done but hadn't included them with their filing were later RFE'd for it. I don't want to take the chance, given how long and crappy the process already is. I'm going to file 2016 taxes the minute the last of my paperwork comes in so that our online tax return transcripts should be available around the time we're eligible to file the N-400 (beginning of April).

I think what I'll do as far as the N400 is concerned is I will wait until a full year passes for the ROC.  At that point, whether approved or not, I will file for N400.

 

We are trying to get citizenship ASAP.  I think I might start contacting representatives (even though technically we are still within processing time).

Before we filed the I-751 last year, I told my tax accountant that we needed to file our 2015 taxes as soon as possible in the year.  I waited until we had our 2015 transcript before actually sending in the ROC packet.  We were eligible on April 17 and I sent in the package on April 28.  I figured waiting those two weeks was better than getting an RFE.

 

I would urge everyone at VSC in our month (April 2016) to get your 2016 taxes in (and get your transcript) before filing the N-400 if at all possible.  I think this time it is well worth the hassle.

I agree with @Sukie I waited until I had my tax transcripts to send in my ROC package.  I had to wait an extra week to do so, but I think it's better that way.

 

I'll hopefully be filing my taxes in March and should be able to get the transcripts in early April.

That's great news but where did you get this info? I've been watch processing times like a hawk at USCIS Processing Time Information and still don't see a change.

Was doing some digging and found that a March filer from VCS got approved.

I went to "Processing Times" at the top of the VJ bar.  On the right hand side, VSC's I-751 processing date said February.  CSC's said May.

Looks like an April 2016 filer got approved. I am assuming the user is a Vermont filer because that's where all the delays seem to be. Don't want to get everyone's hopes up yet but this is still encouraging.
