Thank you for respond. Yep, I do check website daily. Signed up for sms/email update as well.

I did not do infopass yet, but called my attorney instead. So, he said you are from Kazakhstan, you had concealed carry training and you want to change your last name... these 3 factors may or may not delay the process... I admit all this stuff above but I'm not a terrorist... I'm totally clean... they have nothing on me at all... and almost 4 month since Fprints...

Another common factor for delayed clearance is having a common name (e.g. Kumar, Patel) and/or originating from a populous country such as India, Pakistan, China. etc. It simply means higher statistical odds that an innocent and a criminal will share the same (or sufficiently similar) biographic details.

The most I've seen on forum anyone wait is 1.5 yrs from application to oath; those individuals tended to be from Syria, Jemen, Jordan, Iraq and similar countries.

I read of one person from Brazil who waited 10 months or so to have interview scheduled and had to do FP twice (since the first one's validity expired).

I assume there are also random quality controls (like with IRS), where certain individuals are processed with higher scrutiny for no apparent reason.

If you are getting inpatient:

You can contact your house representative. There are examples where applicants have done just that, the result was either more waiting, or "interview scheduled" within days after congressman submitted request.

You can also contact USCIS ombudsman.

Case status says on May 23, my interview has been scheduled, but I still have not received the interview letter in the mail.

How long should I wait until contacting USCIS in case it gets lost in the mail? I live in San Diego, which is also my field office, if that makes any difference.

When and if contacting them, I notice there is an online form I can fill out if I fail to receive a letter in the mail.  What does filling out this form accomplish, or is it better to call?

Your interview is in 4-5 weeks from the online notice. Online form + phone may take a while.

I read others scheduled InfoPass where they had their letter printed on the spot.

InfoPass can be schedule anywhere in US, thus if you office doesn't have appt. available, try nearby offices.

Congrats @Olibecca1!! Can I ask how long your oath ceremony was?

Thanks!  The ceremony was fairly low key.  Small meeting room, 20 or so people getting naturalized plus 30 or so family members.  Whole thing took about 30 - 40 mins.

Thanks, will do - although your Los Angeles field office may have a different time frame than mine (San Diego), as does every field office.  I tried looking up the monthly threads to get an idea for yours, but there doesn't seem to be any activity beyond being placed in line for anyone who filed later than October, so it's hard to get a time frame.  But my notice was a month earlier than expected for San Diego.  My wait time for the notification:  2+ months.  Expected wait time from looking at past threads: 3+ months.  So hopefully soon!

My status changed to Interview scheduled so maybe L.A. is finally moving forward.

I should get my letter over the next 1-2 days.

I'm still here in the same boat...  Fingerprints Feb 17, nothing new.

In my case, I know I have a file with the FBI, since I was born in Iraq (but to Finnish parents, there as expats).  Thus, I was interviewed after the attacks by the FBI.  I have also had the misfortune to have entered the US from Canada hours after first gulf war started, which called for some interesting times spent with CBP at the port of entry - again simply because I was born in Iraq.  Never have been a citizen or a national of Iraq, but yet it sets a flag...  Anyhow, as such I know that a name check with the FBI will not come back with no hits, so now they have been forced to go through all the records, which I'm sure will take some time...

Oh well...

Kris

I'm sorry to hear that Kris. But at least you know the root cause. In my case have no clue at all. Kazakhstan only has "stan" at the end... Yes, there are dictatorship and totalitarianism but because for 70+ years it was part soviet union any religion activities were basically eliminated because of atheism.

little by little they try to make people believe in God, they build churches, temples, synagogues, mosques etc... but most people goes there not because they strongly believe  but because it's a new mainstream... And I'm sure FBI knows about it...

My name is Alikhan Altynbekov... I strongly doubt if there any other guy in the US has the same name LOL... even in Kazakhstan it's not common name whatsoever...hahaha...

The only reason why I'm kind of anxious is because my friends from NJ are going to Canada to watch racing... and we planned this back in Jan-17 when I was thinking to get Citizenship by the end of Jun-17 (based on other people in Norfolk timeline).

So, seems I'm not going to go to Canada and would probably have to wait longer than people from normal countries.

IRS wise I should be fine as well and no criminal records at all.

Decided to wait 6 month from Fprints and then will talk to attorney, basically this was attorney advice.

My status changed to Interview scheduled so maybe L.A. is finally moving forward.

I should get my letter over the next 1-2 days.

Great to hear!  Sounds like LA is moving at the same pace as San Diego.

I got my status changed May 23, but am still awaiting the letter.

While waiting i'm thinking how many test we should have at the interview ?

- I think one is 10 or 6 questions from the 100 questions? am right?

Thank you, this means the writing test as an example will be  just on the vocabulary list? or at interview i can expect to write any word other than the ones in the list?

The writing and reading tests will only consist of words shown in their respective lists.  The speaking test will be based on your answers to their interview questions.
