Good evening everyone,

Just a couple questions on the I-693 medical exam.

Should the Civil Surgeon perform a gynecological exam in the assessment?

Should blood be taken during this exam?

Im just looking for a basic "things to expect" type of list.

My wife had her exam today and we are left with an uncomfortable feeling, but are looking to understand the process of this exam a little better.

Thanks

Norm

Apparently it depends on how good the civil surgeon wants to do his job. I have read from other people's experiences that they got a full medical inspection including genitalia. Others, like myself, just had to answer some questions, walk on heels and toes and have my lungs checked. It took less than 3 minutes.

Blood is always taken.

My visit was very much like any other average physical exam, I stayed fully clothed and there was no mention of having to do anything gynecological in nature. Just felt my organs, and other standard wellness checks. I was asked several questions about my health, and it was kinda cool cause the civil surgeon I saw had been through the AOS process himself so he discussed his own personal experience with me.

And yeah, because I did not have my immunization records I had to get the titers done, as well as a flu shot, and a TDAP vaccine. All turned out good.

As far as i know the blood test and urine test is taken which will determine if you have any STD. Also sometimes Chest X ray if there is latent tb in skin test.

But this is the first time i have ever heard of gynecological exam
