We had a formal wedding in our church exactly three weeks after we arrived from Hong Kong together. There were about 70 people, including Lai's eldest brother who flew from Hong Kong, and her sister, brother-in-law, and two nieces, who came from Vancouver. Our pastor waived his fee, which he does customarily. The only professional we paid was the organist. We had friends taking the video and still shots, and lots of angels taking care of decorating the church and the parish hall where we had the reception. Lai got her dress and shoes in Hong Kong, as well as the bride's maids' dresses.

The traditional Chinese reception, which we did in Hong Kong a few days before flying here, was much more costly.

We're having an intimate ceremony at a friend's house (in 2 weeks). My friends are basically doing everything - because they're the BEST. My immediate family is coming down from New York and Kentucky to attend - along with some of my best friends. (L)

There will be about 30 people. We just decided in the end of March when to have it, so time was a big factor in planning, and in people being able to come down.

I (the USC) also went to Brazil for my fiance's interview so we had our pre-wedding honeymoon in Rio and are short on cash. However, it'll be better than I expected. He got his suit yesterday and I'm' going dress shopping today.

How exciting!!!

Budget-conscious.

We had a limited amount of money to work with, but still it was a lot of fun. About 80 ppl came, and the only thing I would change if I could go back, is to invite another 30 or so people that I didn't because of the budget constraints. But it would have been worth it to squeeze them in. At that time there was just too much stuff going on with Sujeet arriving, and not a lot of money, to think of just squeezing them in. But I wish I would have!

The ceremony was at a small church, and the reception was at my church, which we decorated to look Indian a couple days before hand. We did everything ourselves.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Luis and I were legally married with a judge here in Austin with a few family member. Then we had a formal, religious wedding in Lima, Peru with about 140 people attending. It was absolutely beautiful.
