I went through an uncontested divorce w/o pre-nup or attorney. I didn't need either nor did my ex-spouse. It is possible to remain civil even when something as grand as a marriage fails.

Same here. My ex and I were together almost 7 years. We didn't need a pre-nup prior to the marriage or an attorney to dissolve it. We split assets & debts 50/50 and went our own ways.

Everyone says how a pre-nup is a prelude to divorce. IT IS NOT. Unless you are psychic and know what lies in the future, you cant say anything for sure. Just because a pre-nup can be simple, does not mean its not needed, there are assets that can be protected.

Another thing... some say you can go the civil route & be nice... that's what you can say in the "before" stages. But once it gets bad, you cant turn time & say "i wish i did...."

It is a matter of OPINION either way. My opinion is if someone begins a marriage looking to protect their assets from their spouse they're not ready for marriage and/or marrying the wrong person. The best pre-nup is not getting married at all. Problem solved.

I just wanted an estimate on the amount$$$, not a preaching of why I don't need it.

Then you should probably be talking to a qualified attorney in that field rather than the OT section of an immigration forum.

A pre-nup is like any other type of insurance. If you insure your home against fire,

does it mean that you expect it to burn down?

Apples and oranges. I need to insure my home against against bad things like fire, storms, theft, etc. IMO I don't need to insure myself against my wife.

I wanted to see if anyone here had one drawn up and an ESTIMATE OF HOW MUCH IT COST. Dude are you blind? I'm not asking for your advise on a pre-nup, or why or why not to do one. If you dont know the answer to my question, its simple, dont post :)

I posted two estimates and never got a 'thank you'. I'm sad.

My original reply was in jest - hence the ' ' following my post. You replied with the statement, 'Everyone needs one. Everything is good when its good, but when it gets bad, its real bad. So its nice to have some security, both sides!'. Not true. Everyone DOES NOT need one. I don't and AFAIK none of my friends have one. Granted there are cases where a rich company owner may want to protect his assets from a bimbo stripper but the better plan is don't marry the gold digger in the first place. ;)

Here's what I found in a quick Google... LINK 'Consultation fees for Prenuptial Agreements are $300.00 and initial retainers are $1,500.00. The total cost of any prenuptial agreement engagement, from the initial consultation through preparation and execution, will vary widely and cannot be estimated. The most important factors affecting the ultimate total cost are the size of the parties’ estates, the number and complexity of necessary valuations of assets and/or business interests, and the detail and length of negotiations with opposing counsel. Total fees can range from $1,500.00 to over $10,000.00. Miles Mason , Sr.’s hourly rate for all Prenuptial Agreement engagements is $300.00 per hour. Without exception, our firm represents only one of the parties to the Prenuptial Agreement.'

Why not, if she's really really hot and you can protect yourself with a prenup?

My answer would be just because she's hot it doesn't mean she is marriage material. Plus there are plenty of hot women in the world that aren't bimbo gold diggers. In fact, I'm lucky to be married to one. (L)

Yes, but you had to go all the way to the Philippines to find your hottie. Some people are willing

to settle for a local bimbo and a prenup :P

Brought to you by smokin monkeys... trade marked since barrel of monkeys. And monkeys on the back.

My monkey went to law school at Monkey University.

Just wondering how much the whole thing costs, and is it really necessary to have 2 attorneys (1 for each party) or if its a simple agreement will one suffice?

Less than the divorce.
