Hi there. I hate to start yet ANOTHER topic on foreign income, but the more I search and read, not only do I get more confused, but nothing I have read seems to apply exactly to my situation. I don't want to make a mistake!

My situation: I have lived with my Argentine fiancee for 6 years here in Buenos Aires. I worked here for an Argentine company for pesos...I never earned enough to have to file taxes and I also didn't realize I could just add 'foreign income earned' without some sort of w2-type form (Is that right??). My last w2 is from 2010.

I am moving back to the US this January while my fiancee stays here in Buenos Aires to finish the last few months of her medical internship. I will send our form I-129F when I get home. Right now we are working on our petition and looking at further things we will need.

I am stuck on what exactly to do with the Affidavit for Support.

By the time we get to this phase, I will have my new US job (I start work immediately), my new US bank account, and I have my father as my co-sponsor. It will be tax season again, so I can file my 2016 based on my meager foreign income.

My question is: Do I need to also file the previous years, 2011-2015? Again, I made not even near enough money while in Argentina to legally need to. Would a letter stating I didn't need to file for those years suffice? A letter from my employer? Would this even be a concern for those working on our case and I actually need to do...nothing?
