My J-1 visa application has been in administrative processing (221g green slip) for 70 days now. First the embassy said it'll take 4-6 weeks, then that most cases are solved within 8 weeks, and now they are saying that most cases are solved within 2-3 months. I am a student and my internship is 1 month overdue due to the processing. The CEAC website has not updated since the date of my interview. The embassy says this is normal and that it'll update again only once the processing is finished - but is that really true? Who has similar experiences to share? I feel like I'm in total limbo...

Yes administrative processing is a long process- Everry Embassy says it will take from a week to a month and usually they say that all AP processes are completed with in Six months and 1% goes over 6- month- So no one knows - what they are doing and why it take so long- every time you email or call- Standard answer- Under administrative processing- No one can help until it's not completed- Yeah every time when they work on your case- it will get updated- I have seen many VJ members after getting 4 to 6 updates in CEAC website- they get drop off for passport- it's better that you get a response from your embassy- Some even don't response to emails and phones. Which embassy you applied ?

You wait. Sounds like you know the deal.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Yes I know the deal, but last time there was an update after about 30 days of AP and then soon after I got the visa. This time no update for 2 months! Is it possible that my case was lost/forgotten about? I mean, the embassy sends it to the US I guess for further examination, then what happens there nobody knows... I just wish there was some form of quasi-real time reassurance that the case is being worked on.

There isn't.
