Extension of approved K-1 petition PLEASE HELP

Hi guys,

I could really use your help!

Situation: My fiancé Brian and I got our K-1 petition approved on September 27 2016 and it is valid for 4 months (until January 26 2017)

We planned for me to move back to the US in late April/early May 2017 and get married then.

But since I am going to visit him in America from January 20 - 29, 2017 I can't schedule an interview at the embassy anytime before February since I would have to use the K-1 Visa in January already if I did that.

So now I would like to extend our petition, so I can schedule the interview at the embassy for February/March next year. I read somewhere that there is a way to extend an approved petition and was wondering if some of you have done that before and could tell me how to do so?

The Embassy I will be going to for my interview is in Vienna, Austria.

Contact the embassy and ask for a interview when you want. They will normally auto extend the petition.

Is it okay if I call the embassy in Vienna or does my fiancé in America have to do that?

It would usually be you, or possibly NVC after you contact them, depending on how Vienna schedules interviews.

Schedule your interview in the date they give you, then you can reschedule it 2 or 3 times more

It is also recommended to have the petitioner write a new letter of intent to marry proving that they are still on board. Its not really required, but always helps to have more than you need!
