Police records only from home country or also from countries of residence?

Me and my fiancee have been living in several countries over the past years.
I'm from Germany she's from California.
We re both in Taiwan for 2years now and have met here pretty much right upon arrival.

We're planning to file for K1/i-190 while in Taiwan and hope to get approval latest by spring 2017.
She has lived in several paces like Thailand, UK and Austria for short periods of time (1year or less).
As she is UScitien I suppose she does not have to provide police records from those countries?

prior to Taiwan I have lived in china for ca 5years.
Do I have to get records from China and Taiwan?

Yes, you need to obtain the police certificate from China and Taiwan. Try to go to their Ministry of Foreign Affair website since for most countries, you can apply online.

Just to be sure, as US citizen my fiancee doesn't have to provide any police records, right?

Is there anybody here who had to get a police record from China as a non-chinese no longer living in China?
...seems to be a bummer. I might even have to go back there just to file for that record.

Hi Basti,

For the China police certificate, you can try http://www.visainchina.com/nocriminal.htm or http://lawandborder.com/china-police-clearances/. It's a bit pricey, but I think it's worth the time and money, compared to going to China and getting through all the processes yourself. As you can see from the description of the application processes, it's actually a nightmare if you have to do it yourself. I'm also going to choose one of them to get the certificate for my fiancee. She worked in Shanghai for two years before.

The USC does not have to provide police certificates, only the beneficiary. As far as I know.
