Paying I-129F fee w/ parents check?

Hey everyone! Last question about the I-129F packet, whew!

I currently do not have a check book, and after reading through USCIS' methods of payment (money orders, checks, etc.) I would feel safest with a check as you will be notified when the money is withdrawn. Rather than ordering an entire book of checks for this, would USCIS accept a check from my parents' checkbook in my I-129F packet? In the purpose section could they just put 'fee for daughters I-129f'?

I currently live at the same address (I am a full time student) so the home address on the checks would not be an issue. The checks also include the bank name, our last name, and the starting letter of each of my parents' first names, ex. J. Smith, R. Smith- which I'm not sure could be a problem as their names are abbreviated? If so, should the first names be written out on the check, along with the home phone # which is not pre-printed?

Thanks for any help! Couldn't find much on using someone else's check or abbreviated names on checks!

USCIS just cares about getting paid. As long as the check clears, you're good to go.

We did this, my then fiancé didn't have a bank account in the us but his mother did so we used her cheque to pay for it. Was completely fine so long as it is a cheque from a us bank.

Haha figures, it's all about the money! Kind of figured but this whole process makes me uncertain of EVERYTHING so thank you for responding!

This is also kind of stupid, but if any of you happen to come back here, when you submitted the check, did you just have your parent fill it out and sign, or did you fill out the check and sign it as if it were your own? Again it probably doesn't matter, I just assumed since it's their check they would fill it out. Thanks again for all your help

Yeah I based that reply off of some Google searches I had done which said it isn't fraud when given permission (although seems sketchy) I clearly I do not want to do anything illegal Simply wondered incase USCIS wanted to see that the petitioner signed/filled the check out.

To avoid issues, I will just have my parents fill their check out as I assumed would be the case, especially since it worked for you and everyone here! Thanks for the reply!

Even though you got this sorted out, there's another option. In the future, you could go to the bank and ask them to print a check for you. Many checking accounts offer this for free. You could also take the money to a place that does money orders (bank, many grocery stores, etc) and send that in.
