Should i be concerned or not?

Hi All

I will be ready to apply for citizenship early next year. This is what happened:

I know i have never registered to vote. However 2 weeks back while changing my address online with the DMV. Everything went fine except i checked Yes box to have the DMV notify the SOS change of address for my voter registration. I was on the ph. at that moment and did not realize the error.I have never registered to vote. I know that for sure. CA state has no information about my registration. So i don't know as i am worried they may think i have registered to vote. Also i have moved from one county to another. I stay in CA. Any advice.

i think this can be sorted out without causing any trouble. this can be explained citing as a genuine mistake. registering for vote (by mistake) is not a big of a deal compared to if one have actually practiced it. this is a burning issue in south west where this is very prevalent. talk to the local civil administration (county clerk's office) to have this cancelled and get something in writing. should not be a big of a deal.good luck to you.

I did not register to vote. After completing my change of address online there was a box which stated: Do you want DMV to notify Secretary of State for voter registration change of address? As i am not a registered voter so i am a little worried as by checking that box Yes means that i am registered or allowing them to register me ? Thank you

Check in the voter registration database (you can usually check online) if your name pops up. Easy.

It's not as simple as that. Following through on registering to vote requires your in-person consent, signature, etc.

Alright so i checked with the county voter registration and she stated they have no info on my registration.. I explained her what happened and she stated its not that easy for them to change the address as they will have no record of me as a registered voter. She also stated in order to register to vote they have a process. Now i can relax

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Copy of the DMV form for change of address. I check the Yes in the second box to update my address for the voter Registration. I am not a registered voter. That's why i am worried will they think i am a registering to Vote or something.
