Hello Everyone,

I just came across this blog. Everyone here seems very helpful. I am in need of advice and support.

We recently cancelled my fiance's K 1 visa appointment at the Embassy in Juarez. (Biggest mistake ever)

I'll start from the beginning . I went online and paid the 530 dollar application fee after receiving my letter from NVC. I was given a very limited selection of dates to choose from for the ASC interview and the Consulate interview ; September 26 and 27. Monday and Tuesday. I scheduled those dates and became extremely happy until I researched the airfare. I would be flying from Minnesota to San Diego. I would walk across the Tijuana border and get my fiance and her son. Then the three of us would fly to Juarez from TJ.

I started looking for airfare for those dates. It was 1700 round trip and hotel. I adjusted the dates and discovered the airfare/hotel for the second week in October was 750. So, I figured I could cancel our interview dates and re schedule for the second week in October.Right? Wrong! I cancelled the original interview dates and quickly found out that there were absolutely no other dates available. The following morning I contacted someone at the Scheduling Center. While on the phone with the ladie she told me the only available dates were for the 26th and 27th of September. I told her those are the dates I just cancelled. She asked me if I would like to re schedule for those dates? I thought about for a second and said "yes please". She said "Okay.....ooooh my gosh someone just scheduled those dates while we were talking ". Ughhhh... seriously.

Now I have found out that the Embassy is no longer giving interview dates, and the Appointment Center is unaware of when they will have available dates.

I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, or any insight.

Thank you in advance for your time.

This is the first time I have ever posted anything on the Internet. I hope it makes sense.

Welcome to VJ and posting on the internet.

Juarez is a very busy consulate. All you can do at this point is check daily online for any openings. Maybe you will get lucky and someone else will cancel around the time you wanted in Oct. I advise you to schedule for whatever the first dates are that you find open.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I check the website almost hourly. While on the Department of State website I can pick a date for the ASC interview. However, I cannot select a time from the drop down bar. I'm assuming that's their way of saying that there are no appointments available.

Anyways,fingers crossed. I'll keep trying.

Thanks again.

I'm so sorry for that horrible situation :( Unfortunately I have no experience with that; we are still waiting to receive our NOA2 for our I-130 petition.

I do want to say welcome to VJ, and that I am also living in Minnesota (Minneapolis) and petitioning for my husband in Mexico (Puerto Vallarta). Good luck on your journey and I wish you the best! Please keep us updated about your interview date.

Thank you for the support. I am trying to stay positive and remember that everything will come together soon.

I must say it has been a smooth/formal experience. We started February of this year (2016). If I would have kept our interview dates this would have been about a 7 month experience. Witch I think isn't so bad.

If you're just waiting for your NOA it should go quick after you receive that.

Anyways, what a coincidence that you live in Minneapolis too.

Thank you for the welcome to VJ, and good luck on your journey also.

I am so happy to report that I was able to successfully schedule both interviews today. The ASC and the Consluar interview in mid October. I'm thinking it has something to do with it being the first of the month. Either way, I am the happiest man in the world right now.

I am thankful to have found VJ. It was a great way to vent and receive great communication. Thank you very much. Please don't hesitate to ask me questions about the process my fiance and I have gone through. I understand how stressful it can be.

Thanks again, good luck and best wishes everyone!

The happiest man in the world.

That's great Mike! I'm waiting for my interview since jun 17. We got a checklist and we need to start everything again on August 16. But I have a question for you guys. My lawyer said that I don't need the police certificate. (I'm the beneficiary) so, she didn't send it. If we got a first checklist and they didn't say anything about it, do you think I don't need it? Thank you for your advice

Hey Karla,

I'm not sure about the police certificate. It depends on what the certificate is for. I would say if it wasn't on the first list, and your lawyer said you don't need it, then you should be okay? Sorry I wasn't much help. I would go with what the lawyer says.

Good luck with your interview.

It seems that they don't always request them for Mexico anymore, but in my opinion it is ALWAYS a good idea to bring everything you may possibly need, just in case. It would be terrible to delay your case if they end up asking for one, right? So why not just get it and have it ready at the interview, especially since they are so easy to obtain in Mexico? Again, you may not need it, but "better safe than sorry" as they say. Good luck!

Hello Everyone-

I just wanted to come on VJ and let you guys know that we just spent the week in Juarez and everything went awesome.

We had the medical on Monday,Tuesday was a day off, Wednesday we got the medical results and went to ASC interview (biometrics fingerprints),and Thursday was the Consulate interview. We just got back to Tijuana today (Friday). The Visas were approved!!

So, overall I wouldn't change anything. If you are prepared properly with the right documents,it's a breeze. The people working at the medical exams, ASC , and The Consulate were very polite, friendly and professional. I don't want to bash the government-run facilities in the USA ,but it's the polar opposite in Mexico.

Another thing I want to let people know is that Juarez is a completely safe place to travel to. Expecially the five-block radius around the Consulate. My fiance, our ten-year-old son and I went to the mall daily. We walked there and actually celebrated our sons 10th birthday at Peter Pan Pizza in the mall.

One of my biggest worries about this whole process was the fact that we had to travel to Juarez. I allowed myself to get caught up in all the propaganda. Use common sense. Don't walk around with a Rolex watch and a pair of Jordans on and you'll be just fine. There are way more nice people there than there are bad. I would be way more worried about traveling to Chicago.

Okay, I'll stop my rant here.

Thanks for your time.
