So I went for interview few weeks ago (AOS from B2 visa)..the interview went well BT I didn't get a decision on the spot. I received an "intent to deny" the reason was my birth certificate. They said they need the true copy. I only have the original and photocopies which I submitted while filing the petition. If I send the original to them will i get denied? I don't have any means of getting a certified true copy. I need your advice pls

If you can't provide a certified copy ten you have to send the original which you should have taken with you to the interview

for them to verify with the copy. They won't send the original back to you unless you request it with a form. I see no other

option than to submit the original.

Thanks... but, does the information on the original have to be the same on the Certified True Copy? Because the issue date on the original was 1995 what will the certified true copy say with regards to date issued?

I think you are confusing yourself, and us; you said you didn't have a certified true copy, are you saying the info on the birthcert copy you sent is different than what is on the original you still have at hand?

Someone told me to go back to National Population commission in Nigeria with the original that i have to request a true copy..I was just wondering if the true copy would have additional info on it.

There are 2 forms of birth certificate. They want the long form that has all the data about your parents on it not just names but their ages and place of birth.

As was pointed out above get the long form. Then get several certified copies to use whenever you have to submit one.

A certified copy is the same as an original with the stamp/date of when it was issued but the original dates remain the same as

before. What type of bc do you have ? The long or short form ?

Your local government in Nigeria, have someone get it for you, scan it and send certified copies. It depends on your

birth year what exactly you can get also.

You can get a NPC (Nigerian Population Commission) birth certificate anywhere in Nigeria. Its a federal government recognized

birth certificate, it can be issued at a local government agency.
