Hi Guys,

I, like most I suspect, am an absolute rookie at filling out visa forms, most of it is straight forward, but there are a couple of things I'd like clarified as want to get it spot on before we send it!

1. Does it matter if most of it is typed, and some of it is written in black ink? When my fiancé puts in her social security, and when I try and put in my i-94 arrival/ departure number, when typed it doesn't merge into the boxes properly.

2. I am currently in the US on my ESTA, hence why they want my i-94. Does me being in America have any bearing whatsoever, what is the purpose of them having that information? I will of course be leaving before the 90 days, I am just curious as to why they need it.

3. Question 15.e is passport number, question 15.f is travel document number. Are they the same thing and should I put my passport number down twice if so, or leave travel document number blank?

4. Probably a really dumb question, but want to get it right. On the "Your mailing address section", and "Alien Fiancé Mailing Address", does the apartment number, and my UK house name go in the text section of 2.c and 3.c respectively, or on the street name and number section?

5. My fiancés birth certificate is only one sided, but they are asking for a copy of front and back. Do we need to do that even though the back is blank? It'll just be a piece of white A4 paper if we do. If required should we pencil on that the piece of paper is the back of the birth certificate?

6. Section 31, regarding native tongue - My native alphabet uses Roman letters, so do I just leave this section blank?

Apologies for the amount of questions and how dumb so are, I just want to get things spot on before we get it sent off!

Thanks in advance,

Mike

1. We typed whatever worked on the PC and then we filled in the rest with a black pen afterwards. The i-94 number wasn't an issue though, neither was the SSN.

2. I don't know why they need it. I was there when we signed the forms and sent the petition so we did put that info in there and added the i-94 in the package.

3. On travel document number we put the number that was on the travel documents we got from Norwegian (that I flew in with).

4. Your info doesn't go in 2c, that's for the petitioner to fill out. Ie the USC's info, that goes for everything in Part 1. You fill in your info in Part 2 question 3b (street and house number) and question 3c if you live in an apartment or so (apartment number etc).

5. Is there a reason not to copy and send the backside just in case? If they request both, you send both. It won't make things more difficult or more expensive for you, so don't take a chance. We did the same for my fiancé's BC, copied the empty back of it and wrote on the empty sheet that it was the back of his BC so they'd know what it was.

6. My native alphabet is also roman letters but we filled that part in anyway just to be safe. The only letter in there that differes from the American alphabet was an é.

We didn't get an RFE.

Scandi got all of it, but I'll add - for the question regarding the birth certificate. My USC fiancé's birth certificate also had a blank back. We ended up not including a blank piece of paper and did NOT get an RFE, however I was stressed about getting one for such a simple thing and it's completely up to the officer reviewing your case how strict they decide to be, so - be on the safe side and include it anyway, in my opinion.

As for the native alphabet, we left that section blank because as you said, Roman letters.

Oh, we also left the section about travel document (after passport info which we obviously did include) blank; we assumed it was some other form of tracking travel beyond a passport. I don't know what it's for.

No RFE here either.

Good luck!

Many US birth certificates do have information on the back, particularly the older ones. Save yourself a possible problem and include a scan of the front and back. My fiancée labeled them with a post it note.

As has been mentioned numerous times before, USCIS may not be looking for something on the often-blank back page of the birth cert., but rather they may be looking for the absence of something on the back of the birth cert.

Is it worth a possible RFE, and the associated subsequent delay in processing, probably not? It is best to follow the printed USCIS instructions to the letter.

YMMV.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Hi guys, thanks for the responses, they have been most helpful.

Quick one on the G325A form - On the "Applicant's last address outside the United States of more than 1 year. " it is the same as my current address in the UK which is still present, but on that question it gives me no option but to put an end date - something I do not have yet. What answer did others put for that?

Cheers,

Mike
