Canceling or Rescheduling immigration visa interview

Hello, my wife has a visa interview scheduled this month and we were already to go until I noticed that I forgot to have my joint sponsor's spouse (who is my mother) fill out an I864a. I need her to fill one out and mail it to me before my wife goes to the interview. There probably is not enough time to get the form, fly to Guangzhou (we live in Dalian), have the health check, get the results back, and go to the interview.

My question is that if we decide not to go to the appointment should I choose to try to reschedule or cancel?

Does cancel mean just cancel the appointment or am I telling the embassy to cancel my wife's visa application which is extreme but I just want to check?

What happens if I reschedule and there are no appointments available?

Also, if we get the form, go to Guangzhou, do the interview, then do the health check would that be okay?

Thanks for any one's help or advice. I guess I had several questions, not just one.

**Moderator hat off**

Go to the interview as scheduled, just be straightforward that you still need to submit some forms and will do so as soon as you can. If the visa is approved, the Consulate will delay issuing it until they have what they need.

The medical report will take about 5 business days so unless she can be there for a week, chances are you're not going to have time to get it since you did not tell us exactly which day is your interview. You can send USPS Priority Mail Express for ~$60 and it will get to you in 3-5 business days.

If you can't get everything ready, don't worry. She should go to the interview anyway. If everything else is good, they will give her a GREEN form telling her what she needs to send in. This means she is Pre-approved for the visa and will not need to be interviewed again.

I took a photo of the GREEN form and there is a place they could check off "Medical Report" as well as I-864 forms so this makes me believe that it is possible to submit the medical report AFTER the interview.
