I just sent out the I-129F, and it did not ask for proof of relationship if married. Only the marriage certificate. It actually specifically said to omit the questions 17 and 18 pertaining to how you have met.

So will my fiance's birth certificate and police report and passport need to be translated for the embassy interview since the interviewer will be bilingual? I had his relationship letter and intent to marry letter translated for the I-129F, but I have not yet had anything else translated.

Passports need not be translated. They all have enough English to be accepted anywhere. Generally police reports are translated but I would ask specifically if they need to be for your specific Country, Mexico. The concept is that any required official foreign government documents will become a part of the case file, so they need to be readable by any USCIS or DOS official, bilingual or not.
