Car insurance in South Carolina

Hi All

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum. I have finally setted in South Carolina (from the UK) after winning the DV lottery a couple of years ago. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions where I could get good value car insurance as it is quite expensive for migrants with no previous US history.

Thanks

Try Farmer's home

did you have to provide a good driving record for visa? Take copy with you

membership is only $25

cost of insurance is dependent on vehicle so, if you still shop for a car, check out insurance costs before you buy

Hi there!

I don't have much useful info to add, but just wanted to say hello to a fellow South Carolinian :)

We re-located here from Michigan last year. At first, I had mine through Esurance carried down from Michigan, but recently switched to a local branch of State Farm because it was significantly less to bundle with our home-owner's policy. (If you have home-owner's insurance, definitely ask your company about lower bundle discount possibilities.)

Thank you...or should I say y'all! ;O)

State Farm were very helpful (I purchased my home insurance through them) but unfortunately could not take me on for car insurance as I still have a British drivers license. AAA are quoting something in the region of $150 to $200 per month based on a small car; at least until I can do my test in 180 days or so.

I use progressive. They'll take into consideration the length of your international license and previous insurance from your home country
