So sorry about your denial. Did your case have any other red flags? Are you older than him? Different religions? Did you marry on your first meeting? Have you had a long relationship with lots of visits?

From read the forums it seems that Ghana wants specific things - but I had not heard of them needing pictures with parents.

Let's try and sort this out so when you refile you'll be better prepared.

good luck

As mentioned earlier, this was for the k1 visa so we are not married. I am only 4 years older so I don't see that as being a read flag. We share the same religion. We've been together for almost a year and I've had two visits; one for six weeks and the other for a month in which I stayed with his family.

Hey Hun so sorry . It was me u and mrsgrant that were reschedule for no reason . Did u read my post . Last Thursday, We got sent away to come back with no explanation and nothing more needed. I did have pictures of me and his family and vice versa and skype and FaceTime screenshot and we still weren't approved but sent away so trust me it's not the real reason . If it was KM she is very picky with who she wants to go through with the k-1. contemplating to get my senator involved or just wait it out hmmn but it will be ok

Thank you! Yes I did read your post and it was that post that got me extremely nervous. I even told my fiance about it. I contacted my congressman right away and even went to his office to speak to someone to maybe help speed things along. Because I was told in this scenario you must act quickly. So maybe you should try the same. But I am not relying on this option. So I am getting my mind ready for the cr1 route and will start researching and planning for a wedding there Edited by MrsAshitey90

Sorry to hear that my fellow Ghanaian. Go to court and marry him and come back and file CR1/IR. That one is moving pretty fast now. There's none you can do right. No need to argue with him because nothing was his fault. That embassy is being hard on the K1 now. Since last year, I can't count how many people I know who got refused not on this platform. It's like they're trying to abandon that route for some odd reasons. Good luck and stay strong.

Thank you! Yes. I am preparing for us to go the cr1 route now. This bump will not stop us. I love my fiance very much and he loves me so we are both prepared to do whatever it takes.

My fiance and I were denied a K1 visa too. We waited a while year to hear back from the embassy after they told us to contact them in one year only to be told that his petition had expired the year before. We went ahead and got married two months later and are now going through the CR-1 process. I recommend you guys doing the same or getting a head start on starting the K1 process again. Getting a K1 appealed is very difficult and unlikely. Rather than wasting the time appealing, get in with a new petition while the process is short.

Yea, I see it as being pointless myself so we are going to prepare to get married in Ghana. And pray that this process is a successful one for you!

Don't worry , this is Ghana embassy. A friend of mine had picture of fiancée and his family and was refused. Reason was that in Ghana , when both families meet, it's technically considered as marriage and they were told to go for cr1. They had to come back and start all over

We were denied also, his interview was this morning. I don't know all the details yet because I'm at work so we've just been texting, but I'll fill everyone in when I figure my life out. The way I see it, I can either A) call a congressman and try to get it pulled out again, B) go get married and file a CR1, or C) wait and file again. Is this right?

Definitely B is your best option.

The way things are going with Ghana's embassy, if I were to advise anyone that is preparing an immigration journey from Ghana, a K1 visa wouldn't even be mentioned.

Fighting with a k1 at this Emabssy is a waste of time, prepare for a cr1 if that's the route you would like to take, good luck

I don't understand how they can deny so many people like that. Not every relationship is perfect. You won't know everything about the other..especially if you are so far apart. It is crazy

Sorry to hear this we were also denied K1 and we had pictures of me and all his family. They will deny based on the most random details. We are also planning to go the cr1 route because after speaking with my congresswomans staff and doing a congressional inquiry and requesting a second interview from the section chief Philip Franz it was useless. Best of luck to you guys

It is almost like the K1 has become obsolete in Ghana and they make excuses for everything they can think of to refuse to

issue the visa. At least with a returned CR/IR you have the chance for rebuttal with a NOID/NOIR response for USCIS.
K1's are pretty much DOA in Ghana. What a mess.

Hello all!

So my finace had his rescheduled interview this morning and he was denied. I am absolutely heartbroken. My fiance told me that the CO didn't even look through our evidence, not suprised by this. But she told him that she was not convienced and claim that it was because their was no picture of his mom and I. In retrospect, I wish we has been more forceful with this part. I had skyped with her a few times and I didn't have the sense to screenshot them. So please learn from my mistake. Mind you this is what he has told me since I was not there. He also stated that he got confused with one question that was asked differenly. I will have a more detailed conversation with him later after both having a bit of time to reflect so that there are no unnecessary arguments.

I immediately sent an email to my congressman and left voice messages. Hopefully they can get back to me quickly.

But I hope you all take my experience as a way to make it through your process with even less mistakes. Even though we had great evidence, with this Embassy it doesn't take much to undermine it and all the hard work and time put into it.

Have a good day all.

I'm surprised one reason for the denial was not having picture with his/her mom. I know a friend who was denied because she had pictures with her fiancé family

Members. They told her they're already engaged(which equals marriage/wedding) in Ghana so they should go back and file for spousal visa. I believe the consulars in Ghana are just punishing most of us for some evil some did in the past.
