My son (us citizen) filed with the consulate in Lima,Peru to bring his wife to the US. They said he would have an email within 30 days- he filed on May 7th, and we haven't heard back yet. Should I be concerned?

***** Moving from K3 Progress forum to DCF, as OP's son filed directly with the embassy ******

What exactly did he file? Ie is this the initial paperwork of the petition, or the readyness-for-interview forms? In any case, since they said it would take 30 days and it has been longer, while I do not think it is anything to worry about, he should feel free to call the embassy and ask.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thank you for the reply. It was the initial paperwork. I emailed them and they said they should be getting back to us soon. Is it common for the first step to take longer than 30 days?

It is common, but the timeline very much depends on the consulate, and I have no experience with Lima.

Hi there. Have you heard back yet? I filed Feb. 23rd this year and heard a response after 3 weeks. The 30 day time frame is 30 "business days" and remember that the Embassy takes off for US and Peruvian holidays.

02/23/2016: I-130 Submission DCF Lima, Peru

03/16/2016: NOA2 APPROVAL

06/28/2016: Interview at Embassy: APPROVED!!!

August 2016: Will enter the USA!
