Hi All,

Hope you are doing well and I would appreciate if you help me. My wife and I are Iranian and I am a US citizen. I am living in the USA. on 11/30/2015 I saw my wife's facebook profile and we started a relationship. Because of our culture, we decided to get married and we got married a month ago. I went to Iran and we made everything official. Now I am applying to bring my wife to the USA. I have photos from our ceremony and two official document that shows we are legally married (Marriage certificate and birth certificate). One of my friends in the USA can also verify our marriage. I am 4 year older than her and we are both software developers. She works in Iran at the moment. Since we do not have any shared properties and we have not lived together yet, what other proofs or supporting documents I should provide? Are my evidence enough? I have not her in my federal tax because I submitted my tax for 2015 and we married in 2016.

Please help me.

Joint credit card statement - including receipts from charges made by both of you

Evidence of joint life and cohabitation: monthly bills, insurance, assets etc.

A deed showing co-ownership of your property or a lease agreement with both of your names on the lease

Receipts of money transfer (if applicable)

Phone bills showing your conversations

Receipts of gifts sent online or otherwise

So you got married six months after first meeting online. Did you visit before that or you got married the first time you met in person? You have a pretty short relationship span so I would expect extra scrutiny.

Don't waste time on affidavits, they carry pretty much zero weight anyway. Good evidence is:

Photos of you together and with each other's friends and families

Boarding passes/passport stamps of visits to see each other and trips taken together

Email/chat logs

Phone records

Met online October 2010

We got married first time we met in person. I can provide passport stamp showing I went to Iran to meet her and married her. Is it possible they reject our application totally?

I work as a contract for USCIS. Can it be a good factor for them to trust us?

Firstly, the only proof of marriage is the marriage certificate. Everything else is evidence of a bona fide marriage. Send items that show you and your wife have a genuine relationship. Time spent together is best. The USCIS does not expect newly married couples living in different countries to have joint bank accounts etc... follow the lost from Merryooth and provide what you can. Collect more as time goes on to send with the IV package and your wife to provide at interview.

This is actually very reassuring and I didn't realize it was appropriate to submit more docs at the interview stage. I am Canadian citizen, spouse is USC and I've worried that our file will be somewhat thin based on the evidence we were able to submit at the application stage. So if I read you correctly, the interview is not just about answering the interviewer's questions, but there is also opportunity to "prove" one's case beyond what has already been submitted. Am I understanding you correctly? Thanks -

There's no guarantee the CO will look or ask for any evidence at the interview so it's best to make sure everything is submitted before then. However its possible and everyone should bring evidence to ths interview on the chance it is asked for.
