Hello,

I live in Europe. I work in high-tech and earn a high paycheck, live in my own rented apartment, and have some savings. I'v never been to the US. My workplace has offices in the US and I'm applying for a visa in case I get sent to the US for an in-company conference.

I also have an American girlfriend who's staying in the US. I may want to visit her later in the year for a month or so.

My concern is there's a chance I won't be sent to that conference - if I don't, and I use the visa to visit my girlfriend for my first travel, will that be an issue? Will it interfere with a potential K-1 down the line? (no current interest in marriage)

If it will, does that mean I should mention that I might want to visit her in the DS-160? I don't have any set travel plans yet. Currently I filled it out just for a work conference and there was nowhere to mention her. Should I mention it in the interview?

Thank you!

No it will not effect your K1 app.

What country are you actually from?

I am confused why you are going to apply for a work conference when...there is currently no work conference planned. Sounds like you want to apply saying its for work thinking its a higher chance of approval, when really you want to visit your girlfriend.

You are over complicating things. You apply for a B1/B2 visa which allows you to enter for business (B1) as well as tourism (B2).

When you have a concrete plan, you are going for a conference at xxx location on xxx date or you are going to visit your girlfriend in xxx city on xxx date then apply.

Apply for a B1/2.

Definitely doesn't make it better.

When you have definite plans for a trip, then apply for b1/b2. Getting a visa for future "maybes" won't work as well. But Israel has a very low level of denial.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
