Hello!

I'm sponsoring my husband to get his visa. My grandfather will be co sponsoring him. We will be staying with him and his wife (my grandmother) so that makes a grand total of 4 people. However on part 5 of the I-864 form, there are only options for my grandfather (co sponsor), my grandmother (his spouse) and my husband (the intending immigrant). The options are: the immigrant, the Co sponsor, the Co sponsors wife, dependant children, any other dependants (I'm not a dependant), any other immigrants that might be being sponsored, and anyone else living with you that will be filing form I-864A (which I won't, I'm a sponsor therefore will be filing I-186). I don't fit into any of these categories, so it shows a household size of 3 not 4. Not quite sure what to put here??

hi

you aren't part of their household,

your grandfather will be your joint sponsor not his,

so you will put on your i864 a household of 2, you and your husband

your grandfather will fill out the i864A and the household size is 3, you aren't their dependent, so you don't count in their household size, and the household size is 3 for them

your grandfather will need to send proof of relationship to you and proof that you both live at the same address

I would hhave the OP do an I-864. Her household size will be 2.

The grandfather will also sign a completed I-864 and his household size will be 3, him, his wife, and the immigrant. If grandma makes any income she should also submit an I-864a with grandpa's I-864.

Household size for this form is determined by tax responsibility, not who physically lives in a house.
