As far as I know they do not accept the copies.They ask for original Birth Certificates.

there is only 1 original, and that's at the issuing office. Certified copy is what you need.

To be clear, a certified copy is a copy from the original issuer that is certified to be just as good/exactly the same as the original. It is not a notarized or apostilled copy.

Why did you send an original document to the NVC? Go get another certified copy aka original from the issuer. No a notarized copy will not be accepted.

Just take a copy of the lost certificate to the Death & Births Registry in Accra and pay 30ghc. A new one will be issued to you after 10 working days

I have this same issue with my Nigerian birth certificate. The original is missing but I have copies certified by a solicitor.

I wonder how the US embassy in London will treat it.
