Hey there,

I'm an Indian national born and raised in Saudi.I had my F-1 visa scheduled on the 28th Feb 2016 at the Riyadh consulate in Saudi Arabia. The interview went pretty smooth and quick , he asked me very basic questions about university, funding and my bachelors degree. Took a xerox of my i20 and my bachelors degree which i told him I did in India and which is Attested by the foreign ministry and external affairs. Told me everything checks out well and there's going to be some administrative processing and that they'll make sure i have my passport before my school starts. It's been nearly 72 days and counting since my status has not changed from AP. Still awaiting for their decision.

I called them several times they keep saying AP AP. I even told them I have my orientation soon , they just acknowledged it " yes we know your classes start.....".

I just dont understand how these people can look you in the eye , smile , say its all good and then put you through this hell ? It would really suck for me to miss my intake or even consider differing it. :/

Consulate do not know how long your AP will take, might have an idea of the norm.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Thank you for your reply. Yes I do understand that. I called NVC twice and was told that my administrative processing was done by the US Consulate in Riyadh and that they have no idea. Do you think I should contact DOS for any future information?

It is not done by the Consulate nothing you can do but wait.

It has been discussed but the short version is that it is a multiple of different agencies. Not sure anybody has ever mentioned where, I guess it varies.

It has been nearly Four months (110 days) as of today and there is no status change from AP nor has the date changed in the CEAC tracker. I have missed my summer intake and Thank God managed to secure a spot for the fall intake. I have received my new I-20. My question is do I need to send a soft copy to the consulate as the I-20 copy the VO took is of the summer intake (May 2016) and I have differed it to fall intake (August). Will this be a problem for me ? Thanks

Alhumdulillah!! After four months and three days I finally saw what I been waiting for on CEAC TRACKER "ISSUED". For anyone applying from Saudi Arabia be patient, 120days is their ideal timeframe although it can take N number of days but you shall receive eventually

Congrats!

AP really is a black hole in the space time continuum. Time does not exist there.
