Can gov. officials speed up the waiting time?

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone out there has contacted a state respresentative or congressman/women to help speed up the processing time of your application? I've been advised to do this but wasn't really sure if they would be able to do anything.

Thoughts??

I realize you are anxious about your case being processed in a timely fashion, however going by your timeline, you basically just filed. Yes, CSC is slower than VSC , but you should only contact a congressperson or senator when months have lapsed and then only as a last resort should problems arise with your petition. Give it about a month or two . That seems to be the norm at CSC as far as processing the I-129-F 's .God Bless !

I have known people on here that have contacted their representative about their case. It had been pending longer than yours at this point, and the representatives office was told the same thing the petitioner was told, "the case is within normal processing time" almost to the word. The time to contact your representative is if you have gone past the "normal" processing time and for CSC thatis' about 90 days. You might want to save calling in a favor if you have any, until you really need it. Don't forget, after USCIS finishes with it, it has to go to NVC and they've been known to need a nudge here and there too.

If you have connections to Congressmen or Senators and they are really willing to bat for you, yes they can get you special priviledges but thats the risk they take, in looking corrupt.

In general if its just normal processing time they'll just tell you, you have to wait, but in many cases they can cut through silly B.S.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I need to just "wait my turn"...yuck! Jumping in front of the line sounded like much more fun to me! I guess I should wait to make a call if things start running long.

I feel for the people who filed a long time ago and see NOA2's being given from people who applied this month! I can't imagine how hard it would be.

At least I am together with my fiance... we live in Norway. We don't have to spend this time apart like the vast majority of you. However, I have to be back in the U.S. this summer and it sounds like we won't be done with this process by then. However, I have been in touch with the Embassy in Norway and we've started getting all the paperwork together for his interview. The medical is good for one year so we are going to ahead and get all of that done ASAP so we are ready and don't prolong the process. I encourage others to get in touch with their embassy abroad to see if they can do the same! I don't know about t his process in other countries but THINGS TAKE TIME in Norway... I believe this to be the country moto!! I know once all the paperwork gets here... it's going to take FOREVER!

Thats a nice area there, the Scandinavian region. Its pretty cloudy over there a lot of the time though isn't it? Actually who knows, the U.S. Embassy there might process pretty fast since there are probably less cases being processed there. I know Cyprus, where my Fiancee is living is notoriously slow, like when going to a restaurant you may have to spend hours (seemed like it anyway) looking for a waiter and go tackle him/her before they get away! But when the Embassy got our petition and she faxed just the DS-230 part 1 they emailed me in 2 days and scheduled the interview for a week later! I had to email them back and tell them to give us another 2-3 weeks!

But yes I think its good to get a lot of the stuff together, especially the police reports because they could have to be from different countries and they may take a couple months to get. The medical is good too. Then there's all the other official documents, which may also need translating.

Norway is a beautiful country! The winters are LONG and dark. Last year we were hit with snow in October and it stayed on the ground four five months. Even though I moved from Chicago... a VERY cold city, I had a hard time adjusting to the winter. I think it is the lack of sunlight. The summers are amazing though and worth it if you can make it through the winter.

I know what you mean about wanting to tackle a waiter just to get the check. Norway is a slow moving country (unless you are on skiis!). I've heard the embassy can be slow even though Norway is such a small country. They take a ton of vacation over here... I love it...but that means they office is basically closed for the summer. No one works here in the summer months and I've been told to forget about getting an interivew during this time. I guess all we can do is hope for August!

I personally would wait on the physical until it's near the time of the actual interview. Especially since you're going the K-1 route and will be doing Adjustment of Status here Stateside. If the physical is out of date at the time you beginning AOS then he'll have to have another physical here.

I contacted mine on my first K-1 but only when I had problems. I plan to contact him on this one again next Wednesday but only because I again have problems. I have a feeling if too many who don't have problems contacted them and asked for help it would make it much more difficult for those who really do have problems. It did seem to help the first time.

I've been so preoccupied with the whole process abroad I haven't done much research on what to do once we get married and are back in the U.S. I guess I should start be looking at the whole picture... not just the immediate!
