Hello,

I got my DV visa in February and it expires on July 27. I was planning to travel to the USA somewhere around mid-july. But I don't know what are the steps to take here and after I land in the USA. Will I have to file anything to adjust my status? I'm also about to get married so I can apply for my spouse using the I-130 form.

What are the documents that I will have to take with me and where should I go? I saw that there were a lot of forms like the I-485 with a huge fee. Does it apply to me?
If there is something I have to do now or get ready for, please let me know ASAP before it's too late!

Please help. I don't know what to do.

No, you don't need to do any of that stuff. You have an immigrant visa. All you need to do is arrive with your visa and brown envelope, and as soon as your passport is stamped for entry you become a lawful permanent resident.

Don't forget to pay the $165 USCIS immigrant fee to get your plastic green card - that's the only fee left for you.

You can't apply for a green card for your spouse until you have landed.

Look at the forms you need with the I130 ( there are guides here ) and bring all the things you need so you don't have to wait on mail to get them here to file.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
