I like Kaboom for the tub grime, bath sink and everything else that can be sprayed with it. I love the smell. I also use Mr.Clean’s Magic Reach to scrub the tub (and scrub the tub the floor and anything that needs scrubbed too), also smells great, and the best is that you don’t have to make much of a mess using different rags and sponges. Hubby is learning to use the disposable wipes to clean the toilet rim (in between full cleanups). Life is grand!

BTW, did you all know that you can use a can of Coke in your toilet? I haven't tried this yet, but I was told that the carbonating effects "scrub" your toilet. Hmmm....might have to try that.

Just a small comment, in fact the phosphoric acid from coke is doing the job, and not the "carbonating effect" that is basically the carbon dioxide (a gas) getting out of the liquid (phosphoric acid is added in the coke as an acidifier)

Thanks :) I knew it was more than carbonation but couldn't remember for the life of me what it was in scientific terms. LOL, not something I have to teach in elementary school. ;)

I now need to get the Swiffer Sweep and Vac...

me too me too!

Or I at least need to get one of those Dust Buster on a stick things. I used to have one, but left it for my Mum when I moved here. Now we have a house full of just hardwood floors (except the downstairs bedrooms and den) and the carpet vacuum just kinda throws stuff around rather than vacuums it all up. The Swiffer Sweep n Vac or something sans roller brush would be great. I hate sweeping, the dog hair just flies all over the place :P

Cool topic, Becca!

I've actually never used anything Swiffer! I've thought about it tons of times, but never have...I'm thinking I may need to get something for bathroom floor, but I usually just get down there and scrub it..it's not overly big so not a big deal...and only room that's not carpeted, so...

I don't really have much to add..I use some of the things mentioned. The only things I would add are I HAVE to have Dawn dishsoap or I'm not happy with how much dishes come out, and I have to have Comet cleaner on hand at all times for pots/pans/bathroom cleaning, etc. I use Comet for loads of things and it runs out rather quickly in our house. Luckily, it's cheap.

I got some good ideas for next time I'm shopping from this thread though...gonna try a few things! :) M.

Does anybody have any good suggestions for those awful hard white "marks" in the shower, sink, toilet, etc. (calcium?????). I have tried Lime Away and CLR, with no good results. THEY ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!

ooo Im waiting for the answer to that one too! We have a really old tub, that CLR stuff is rubbish.

Vinegar - it's the only thing I use for hard water build up in the shower, sinks etc, I leave it sitting for a while before scrubbing off (yes it does take some scrubbing but those cleaners that just wipe it off - I find them too caustic).

Scrubbing bubbles automatic shower cleaner is a great little product, after the last shower of the day you push the button and voila' - keeps your bathtub clean! http://www.automaticshowercleaner.com/

We have all hardwood floors so we bought the floormate, the actual machine is a tad heavy, I find, however it really does get the floors really clean!

I order/purchase nearly everything from greatcleaners.com (unless they're available in a local store). I have seen Bed, Bath and Beyond carry some of their items.

I LOVE the orange smell and Kaboom, Orange Glo hardwood floor items, etc work awesome. I can't handle the smell of most of the commercial cleaners.

Magic Eraser contains formaldehyde , a cancer causing agent. :(

Actually, no. According to http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/eraser.asp

Formaldehyde is not and has never been an ingredient in Magic Eraser. One ingredient in Magic Eraser (formaldehyde-melamine-sodium bisulfite copolymer) contains the word "formaldehyde" in its chemical name. However, this ingredient is not formaldehyde and poses no health or safety risks. (Think of this name like "sodium chloride", which is table salt. Sodium by itself can be dangerous, but sodium chloride - salt - is safe.)

I agree i love those clorox wipes too! Scrubbing bubbles for cleaning the bathroom, the works toilet bowl cleaner i like alot too. Vinegar and water cleans windows and mirrors well, you can even use it to wash floors. Flour sack towels are good for cleaning mirrors and windows too, as they dont leave loads of lint like some papertowel does.

I use a squiggee (spelling???) and windex for windows and mirrors.

I buy Mean Green or Thunder Blaster at the Dollar General and use it to clean EVERYTHING! I swear by it. Scrubbing Bubbles and Tilex for the bathrooms and just soapy water for the wood floors.
