@wcoskrey

Hey bro, I'm Egyptian as well and while I'm straight, but I completely sympathize with you as the amount of risk you take just to get out of your house is unbelievable.

Anyways, I seriously doubt that anyone will care at the airport, I don't even think the officer checking your visa is capable of reading English, he just sees the look and the layout of the visa with the big words of "United States of America" on it. It is always a 2 second glance.

Also although it might sound unbelievable but legally, being homosexual is not a crime in Egypt. The airport officers have no right in preventing you from traveling, I think the maximum thing they can do there is treat you with disgust which is a shame really.

Anyways, the suggestion left by @TomEn is really great and I think the US embassy would agree to that.

Good luck and stay safe.

Thanks so much! Filing the DS-160 tomorrow . . .

I appreciate your support and your take on things!

With the government agents able to do anything they want (like the recent torture/murder of the Italian graduate student in Cairo), it's a scary proposition.

Why would he have to lie at the American immigration??? He would have to lie at the Ehyptian end if asked. The American immigration people have absolutely no problem.

Was referring to the Egypt side, not USA side, poor man is already scared they will do something to him if they knew his preference.

I hope all goes well for him leaving there.

AOS in the USA.
