So I sent my gal to local drivers lesson in Manila.

The website said P6,500 for 5 hours and P8K for 7 hours.

Well she went there and they told her P6,500 Five hour course is only for refresher class for people with some experience already.

They told her P17,700 = 393.00 US I told her "no way"

So does anyone else out there have experience or recommend driver's place in Manila for Brand new drivers - automatic transmission and WHAT DID YOU/SHE pay?

Thanks in advance

My recommendation is to wait until she gets to the USA. It will cost about the same and she'll actually be learning what she needs to know to get her license here. My learned to drive in the Philippines, and although she knew how to move a car down the road, she had a lot of bad habits that would have caused tickets, accidents, and failure of a USA driving test. She drove fine for the Philippines, and is actually a rather safe driver there, but started out being a dangerous driver here. Learning to drive following actual laws is a much different thing than driving in the Philippines. You can spend that money there, but you'll just end up spending it all over again here.

I taught my wife how to drive when she arrived here in the USA. Yes, it is a time consuming process but at least I taught her how to drive the right way. Also you will need to be patient with her as well. If you really want to send her to a school then do it here in the USA and not the Philippines. That way she will learn the right way and not the Philippine way.

I concur with what was stated above which is Do not sent her to a school in the Philippines, because you will just have to reteach her how to drive the right way.

Taught my wife here in USA to drive. Took about a year before she passed but now, with a GPS she can find her way to all the second hand shops. I guess its true you can take her out of the Philippines, but you can't take the Philippines out of her. Lol

My fiancé just finished 2 months of schooling there. She did it with Smart Driving School I believe it was.

They have multiple locations, and their web site has the prices on it. She also choose to learn to drive a stick

shift, and did fine after a few lessons with the clutch. Saving the aggravation is a good idea and PRICELESS !!

The costs were 6600 for 15 hours driving time; 1000 for the student license, and the books cost extra. And she learned to drive on Commonwealth area. She enjoyed it and did fine. When I asked her the details, she said, Hey can I drive some more....so I said Sure to keep to fluent. She really wanted to learn the stick because we're getting a old Land Cruiser for 4wheeling and she wants to drive it! so I guess she'll be able to now. Good luck.

Wow A1 School in Quezon City told her P17,700 for 15 hours.

Well she gave them the P7000 I sent her and they kept it as a deposit.

They refuse to give it back and said 5 or 7 hour course is for refresher training only.

New drivers are required to take 15 hour course.

:ranting:

No way am I paying nearly $400.
