1 or 2-way plane ticket to bring fiance home?

My fiance has an interview March 1st in Bangkok, Thailand.

I want to come to her and bring her back with me but I was told that I will need a 2 way ticket to go to Thailand from the U.S.

Should I blow off the return and buy another so that we can share flights?

Also, I want to bring her to Chicago to visit family. I live in Wichita, Kansas. I was told that she has to leave the airport in Wichita, then I can take her to Chicago.

I like to connect in Chicago in case something happens, so going to Chicago to Wichita to Chicago is a waste of time I think.

Any input? Do I know what I'm talking about? Should I just have her travel alone?

Buy a round trip ticket for yourself to to from the US to Thiland, if you need to you can always adjust the return date

Whoever is advising you is giving bad advice, you can enter the US wherever you would like- note that your first stop in the US will be your PoE

You can fly directly to Chicago and then leave the airport there for however long you like before flying on to Kansas

Just remember, an interview does not guarantee approval. Don't plan her travel to the US until the passport with Visa is in hand. After the interview you could receive the Visa within 2-4 weeks, or you could sit in AP for months, you never know what the outcome will be.
