Hi there,

I am in the process of getting my things together for my K1 AoS, and I just have a quick question regarding my Application for Travel Document.

Am I right in believing that I need to attach a letter explaining why I may need to visit the UK? I'd only be visiting for short trips and things like Christmas.

Many thanks!

You dont really need a reason, When we did ours we did not provide a reason and it was fine.

With AOS you do not have to put the reason. We said visiting family (just for completeness) and we put an approximate date December 2015 and asked for 3 weeks. But when your AP is granted with EAD it's just a card and the card does not specify how long you can go for. You usually have to specify reason if you are applying for AP on it's own as an emergency, that's when they want to see evidence

You do need a reason of using it for DACAbilly.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Hi there,

A reason is never needed when filing AP with your AOS application.

I will clarify from a previous post I made here (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/563869-aos-cover-letter/?p=7795494) :

You do not need a supplement because you do not need a reason for applying for the AP. That statement on part 7 asking you to include a supplement does not apply to you, because you are an adjustment applicant.

From the I-131 instructions, page 8:

If you are in the United States, you must attach:

1. A copy of any document issued to you by USCIS showing your present status, if any, in the United States; AND

2. An explanation or other evidence showing the circumstances that warrant issuance of an Advance Parole Document; OR

3. If you are an applicant for adjustment of status, a copy of a USCIS receipt as evidence that you filed the adjustment application; OR

4. If you are traveling..... OR

5. If USCIS has deferred...

Notice the use of the conditional OR. You have a choice to include either 2, 3, 4, or 5 depending on your situation. Including #2 is the supplement page they are asking for in part 7. You do not need it, because you are applying based on #3, adjustment applicant.
