Hi guys!

Anyone here had a legal presence issues in applying for DL?

I'm in CA and right after i got my social number (still haven't received the card) i went to dmvand applied for my DL. Passed everything the same day and has been told thatl be getting my dl within 2-3 weeks. So 3 weeks went by and i still haven't gotten anything. So i called and was told that they still need to verify my info with dhs. Ugh this is just too muchwaiting.

Anybody else here had the same experience?

Congrats to everyone! Haven't been here in a while but wondering if anyone had tried going to the SSA after receiving their GC to update their card in order to remove the "valid with DHS authorization" statement? Do they reissue you a new social security card as long as you show them the GC? And I heard you could get in trouble later on with citizenship unless you register for service--how do you do this?

First of all, huge congrats to iPod and zwoodward! You made it!!

Second, my husband and I are having quite a day. He interviewed for one of his dream jobs, and it went so well that they offered him the job on the spot! He then came home and checked the mail. We weren't expecting anything since our I-485 case status hadn't changed, but there it was, the green card!! Only took one week after the interview to arrive. So happy!

I got my EAD/AP but yet to hear about my GC

I have been ready for interview since April 4th and 2 months later still no news, when I called USCIS they said it could take up to 6-12 months which j hope it's sooner since I don't wanna pay for another medical when the meantime I am still looking for work and still need to get the things for my new place with my husband so if I can avoid the medical expense I will take it as it cost waaaaaay to much

they must b busy. Finding work is tough but keep applying ...

Update:

Hi Everyone, wanted to update you on my case. On June 17th my I-485 was scheduled for interview. After so much drama with my EAD taking forever I really wanted to be approved without interview so I wouldn't have to think about the USCIS for a long time, but now I have to do an interview

Today, my EAD has finally been approved after 112 days, several calls to the USCIS and a service inquiry. Still waiting on AP though.

Congratulations to everyone who have been approved or received their cards. Such good news for you.

Called USCIS again, was told by a T2 there is NO processing times for I-765 with a pending I-485. I am on day 117 and will have to wait God knows how long again. But I looked on their Processing time paged and I saw something.

C9, it's us! So it still says 3 months. Contacting Congresswoman and senator tonight, give it till next week then contact Ombudsman.

Just thought I would share my experience here as I continue to be shocked by the lack of accountability I've encountered at all stages of this process.

Word of the wise, DO NOT HAND OVER YOUR FOREIGN DRIVERS LICENCE TO THE DMV. I had read here a couple times that they have no right to it being a document issued by a foreign government but when I went to get my Florida drivers licence yesterday they told me I had to surrender it in order to get an 8 year Florida licence. I was weary, but fine, what could go wrong?

Today I received a message on Instagram from a stranger with a picture of my Canadians drivers licence saying he picked up my fully intact licence out of the garbage in a near by city. My husband and I had no idea if this was just a good samaritan trying to do the right thing by returning it, or if he's trying to exploit this some how. So we were cautious in what information we gave and asked if it could be sent to the address on the licence.

I feel dumb for believing that the DMV would actually take the time to destroy or at least invalidate a private document (that doesn't expire for another 8 months I might add) and I am fuming. It makes me wonder what else is tossed out so carelessly!

Hi everyone

This is my first time writing here

I'm living in seattle

I came on esta visa unlike most of you guys

And got married this January and filed for aos February 8th.

I thought it will take more than 7 months at least to do the interviw since i have heard many stories about how much backlogged seattle field has and everything.

But i got my interview notice last month and just did the interview yesterday. We were the last people on that day and maybe that nice lady wanted to go home because she didnt ask us that many questions than expected!

We didnt even have many evidences. Just phone bills, joint account, photos that's was it.

Anyway the interview went smooth and as we drove out, the status changed to 'card is being produced' and I'm expecting to get my greencard next week.

Weird thing is my friend filed aos june 2015 but they haven't heard anything ever since.

They did it with lawyer and we did it on our own lol.

Same area same seattle field.

I'm so greatful for everything and i had many helps from this forum.
