Hello to everyone here , I finally got my passport back with the visa on it and it was a really exciting feeling.
My interview at the embassy went really well, They asked me how did we meet, how much do we talk, what does my husband do in the US, and when did I planned to go there .
I am actually writing here for a particular topic since I have seen so many comments about it , I am talking about the Taxes of 2015, the Woman at the Embassy who took my documents she asked me to return and get my 2015 Tax Transcript which I did not had with me , but then I said that I had forms W2s and she took them, she said that even though I should have had my Tax transcript these are ok. I said to here why are you requesting them so early she said they just want to make sure he had sufficent income but luckly I had my forms and Then she accepted those ...Other then that everything was really easy and the staff was amazing, I would just suggest not to freak out like I did , If you go good prepared you will be fine.

I am very thankful to everyone here , I have learned so much in this Forum and I am gone continue to be part of it for the rest of my process.

Good luck to everyone for their upcoming Interview and dont worry It will be fine :)

Thanks, I will when I have a few extra moments! Please let me (us) know when you get your interview letter! (:

And do you know what the truth is, can the American spouse join the Canadian one? I have heard many different answers.

From what I understand, they will let the American spouse join in Montreal as long as they have their passport with them. I heard if they get too packed inside the embassy, then they may not allow them in. But, for the most part, they are allowed and do get in.

I've heard if they are jam-packed they only allow the Canadian in (which makes sense). I've heard you have to call and request the American spouse to join, also. Then I have heard they aren't allowed altogether. Just confusing, does it say on the interview letter?

Hi everyone,

I might have made a booboo. I filed my taxes in January but I filed as head of household. When I had filled out the tax papers at work, it says that if spouse lives out of the country to check single. So I thought I could also file the same way. I asked the accountant who did my taxes for and is aware of the immigration process I am undergoing and she said that filing as head of household and not as married filing separately or jointly should be fine since my husband is not in USA yet. She said that she dealt with cases like mine before and everything was fine for these people in the immigration process. Do you guys think that 's going to be an issue at the interview? I already requested the 2015 transcript for my husband to have at the interview but not to provide them to them unless they ask for it.

Comments are welcome.

Thank you and good luck everyone

I filed the same way, it's perfectly ok. Just bring everything with you incase the ask for it, in our case they did not ask for tax info but I was ready with it.

Interview letter only says the applicant is required to be there, and mentions nothing about the petitioner.

Nope - didn't ask me. I know the couple that went up just before me, the petitioner tried to go up with her for the interview part, and he was asked to go sit back down.

Morgan when you have a chance can you share what questions they asked you? How long you were there etc. I don't know if I will even try to go into the embassy with my husband, I am sure it would help with his nerves though if I was actually waiting with him. Not sure what to do...

P.S. Did your wife finally make it there?

Absolutely -

I had the same guy many people have referenced - younger, brown hair, glasses. He was really nice, and after I gave my finger prints again after doing the oath, joked that my finger prints are really clear and if I commit a crime I'm getting caught for sure. Lol. He commented that our file was huuuuge and we had way more than we needed (better safe than sorry lol).

Questions asked:

Asked how I met my wife

what she does for work

asked how often we saw each other

how I knew the joint sponsor

That was about it. Was pretty quick, he reviewed a few of the documents, typed some things on the computer.

She finally made it in (after more delays!) at around 12pm (was supposed to be at 1045pm the previous night). I was done eart enough that I had enough time to walk back to the hotel and then leave to pick her up. She was pretty sad that she missed being there for it, but quite ecstatic with the result :)

Edit: forgot to add. My interview time was at 10:30. I showed up at 9:45. I was out before 11.

Are the interviews actually face to face like in a room, CO at a desk and you sitting across or are you like standing in front of a window and they are behind a pane of glass like a bank teller? Just curious
