Hi Guys,

My fiancee was interviewed on the 17th of December 2015 and a divorce decree/marriage certificate was requested; this was submitted the next day and was also submitted online by email to the agents that I was corresponding with. The updated the case on December 22nd 2015...there was no other update until I sent them an email asking when we might hear from them.

That response was on the 29th of December; we got the following message:

"Thank you for your email.

We have received your documents and her application is being processed. Unless we require more documents or other issues arise, we anticipate her immigrant visa will be ready for pick up approximately 15 days ((excluding US or Nigerian holidays). We will contact her if there are any delays. We recommend that visa applicants not make any travel plans before they have their visas in their physical possession. We are unable to guarantee the issuance of a U.S. visa before a fixed travel date. You risk significant financial losses if you ignore this advice. If we have questions about the application, we will contact her.

Sincerely,"

I have made additional inquiries since then and have only been informed that my inquiries have been forwarded to the appropriate department. I just need to have my fiancee submit her passport so that she could go back home and wait.

Since the 19th of January after my last email to them on the 18th, they have updated the case on a daily basis 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd, but it has never changed to any other status but "Administrative Processing".

Any words on what this could mean would be appreciated.

Regards

It means they are working on your case, which is a good sign.

Thanks Penguin_ie,

I am just concerned that they did not collect the passport and have not asked for it since after the interview on the 17th of December. It has been over 1 month now.

They usually take the passport if they are going to issue a visa. Where are they going to put the visa if they don't have your passport?

Thanks for your comments Kehinde!

I had to write them again about two days ago to inquire one more time on the status and they responded that they had been waiting for us to submit the passport and that the case had been pending until they received the passport.

They never asked for the passport until I wrote; perhaps the case was ready for issuance but nobody bothered to send us an email asking for the passport until I wrote them.

My question now is whether there could still be a problem if they are asking for passport...in other words, can they request for passport to refuse or delay a visa? There is really no reasons for a refusal, but I am just wondering. I anticipate a visa however but wanted to hear what other people think or have experienced.

Thanks

Today, the status changed to

"NonImmigrant Visa Application",

"Ready" and both "Creation Date" and Status Update Date" are the same.

I suppose it will likely change to "Issued" in about a day or two correct? If not, how long after does it change to Issued?

How many days after "Issued" would it be ready at GSS collection center? Thanks
