new I-751 is very poorly written and difficult to understand

The first area of Part 8 is totally wrong. My wife's biometric appointment letter (which we received this week) is CLEARLY only for her, not for me. Yet the first section of Part 8 of the new I-751 refers "my ASC appointment" and indicates that I'll be providing biometric data and signing the "Acknowledgement of Appointment at USCIS Application Support Center".

As I said, that's totally wrong, but fortunately this is just an informational area.

Well, Part 7 already has a section about the ASC appointment for the conditional permanent resident to fill in their name to sign.

You are correct that it makes no sense that Part 8 also has a part about an ASC appointment, because the USC/LPR spouse doesn't do an ASC appointment. It was probably a copy-and-paste error. Nevertheless, the correct things to do would be to fill in the USC/LPR spouse's name and sign the part. It is not a lie to agree that you will do certain things at "your ASC appointment" -- you would indeed do those things if they asked you to go to an ASC appointment (but they won't).

This response is if you are ROC based on marriage to a USC. Part 1 and Part 7 is the person with the conditional GC that needs to remove conditions (Petitioner). Part 4 and 8 is the US spouse (Spouse).

Also, the key part of the application is to make sure that if you the USC (Spouse), completing this application for the Petitioner, complete the statement listing your name in Part 7 and complete the Preparer's section in Part 10.

We genuinely believed that that part needed to be filled out only if a third party was used as the form was jointly filed. In our case, the petition was filled out together, but the USC's handwriting was used for legibility reasons. We sent it off last week.

We just called the service center today to clarify a second time on this after having a mini heart attack...we were told by representatives that part 10 is intended for those who used a third party.

We're currently filling in this I-751 form......we're stressing out like crazy.......yesterday we entered the 90 day to file deadline......is there meant to be a appointment letter sent to us for a biometric appointment before the 90 days start?....very stressful.

I don't know why you are stressing out. You just have to finish it and file within the next 90 days. The form shouldn't take two months to fill out.

You are only going to get a biometrics appointment for ROC after you have filed for ROC.

OK stupid question. I'm filling out this form and in the part that says "Acknowledgement of Appointment at USCIS Application Support Center", right under it where it starts " I, ______________..." are you supposed to put your signature there or just type your name?? No instructions at all

It seems like these forms are actually produced by some high school kid!

You would think that the forms look more professional since they are to do with immigration, but just seem to be put together in a hurry, with no thoughts.

Compare these forms to the immigration forms from the likes of UK or Australia, these US forms really need updating!

Type or print. Just like with any other form.

Type or print legibly; its not a signature location.

It is a confusing form, made more confusing in that the roles are switched in this case as opposed to the previous stages.

The petitioner is the person who has the expiring conditional green card.

The spouse is the person that you originally got married to in order to start the entire process. That person was the petitioner for K1/AoS/etc.

Thus the entire form is talking about the person whose green card is expiring, except sections 4 and 8. Also, yes, it makes no sense for it to be talking about an ASC biometrics appointment in section 8, as the spouse doesn't need biometrics. Just fill it out and sign that you agree anyways.

I realize this is an old thread but does anyone have any idea how a divorce waiver would be filled out with the new I-751? Talking about part 8. in particular. I don't feel comfortable filing in my spouses info or how to get it signed, since I'm not even filing jointly?
