so i haven't been on the boards in an eternity - well atleast not with a real need. here's our situation.

it's march 8, 2007. i haven't filed. expiration of wife's gc is march 13, 2007. in approximately 5 days, with a weekend in between.

i haven't the time to dig up tons of evidence, all i plan on providing is:

- birth cert of baby

- insurance - car and health

- checking/savings account statement

- whatever other bills i can find that have both our names

- copy of lease

would that suffice - and any words of wisdom given that i am cutting it very very close? please don't tell me i should have done this months ago - i realize - can't look back now, just ahead!! should i fed-ex/ups it in ...do they look at the postmarked date, or is it the date they recieve it? what happens if it gets there after the 13th? thoughts? or am i the only one that likes to live on the edge and file and the absolute last minute?!!?

thanks in advance!

You could also include your joint US income tax returns as evidence.

Once you send in your I-751 application, you will receive an NOA about 3 to 4 weeks later, which extends your conditional resident status for one year, with work and travel authorization.

You should not travel outside the U.S. and try to re-enter without having the NOA with you.

I would get that application in as soon as you possibly can, because effective the expiry date of the conditional GC, you are technically out of status.

nah, count us as last minute people too. Not our best idea, but like you said, you can't turn back time.

I'd look to add something in the way of photos of you guys with the baby. If you can find them, try to find pictures taken throughout the last two years.

You can also photocopy both of your driver's licenses showing the same address.

ETA: definitely send the tax returns as suggested above.

Fingers crossed for you and us both, lol!

May-be add some pics, cards/letters with both your names on it. Also see if you have any joined property/shared responsibility (car title, loan, mortgage etc.).

Anyway, I believe the birth cert of your child might be the best evidence anyway - at least that's how I see it.

If you're not too tight on the money side try something like same day or overnight delivery, to make sure it arrives there on the 13th at the latest. Also when using a courier service make sure you have the correct address.

Good luck!

I appreciate the quick responses - ya, I will definately include tax returns. Unfortunately we don't have any any shared liabilities such as mortgages or car payments.

Ok, I'm putting together the stuff NOW. UPS or FedEx? I don't think FedEx delivers to PO Boxs - does it? Don't trust USPS!!

You can! They have an express letter (I paid $ 18 I think) and it gets there by 10am the next morning. On the slip, check the "waive signature requirement" since it's a PO box. You can track your shipment online and print out the shipping info once it arrived (you'll have to prove that you shipped your documents within the 90 days in case anyone ever asks..). Don't forget to make a copy of the whole thing for yourself, and don't forget the $$$ :star:

For FedEx or UPS, you would need a different address, not the P.O. box. I have always used USPS with delivery confirmation or signature confirmation. I had good experiences with them and their tracking service.

You should have no problem with the filing date, just be sure to send the form I-751 completely filled out and the money, best as a check. Otherwise, the application will be returned. You can submit further evidence later - wait for the NOA and send the additional evidence with a copy of the NOA to the service center. I believe, however, that your evidence is sufficient because of the birth certificate.

(My evidence was similar to yours plus tax copies, but no pictures: birth certificate of our second son, birth certificate of our first son, our current lease from April 2006 until March 2007, our previous lease from April 2005 until March 2006, overview of my current health care coverage, federal incom tax filed jointly in April 2006, federal income tax filed jointly in April 2005, title of my car, owned jointly by us, recent statement of our joint account.)

i think i got all that together - the only thing i can't seem to pull together is a bank statement - i went paperless and can't find a place online at my bank to print a statement! oh well...let's see what else i can scrounge up!!

Well personally I wouldn't waive the signature when filing so close to the deadline - I know I wanted proof that it was received, when it was received, and by whom.

I've never had a problem with USPS express mail.

Now get that thing out of your hands already lol.

I guess with "You can" I meant, you CAN trust the USPS postal service.... sorry. :innocent: They have an option to waive the sig requirement. You will still get a delivery confirmation (from the postal worker that delivers it rather than a signature from the adressee).

@Peachbythebeach, wether you waive the sig.requirement or not I believe the confirmation signature is from the postal worker, not anyone working at the Service Center - it's just a PO box. Anyway that's how my post office explained it to me.

My SC had a different address for FedEx deliveries, so I used that. Don't worry about the evidence too much, they can always ask for RFE which gives you some more time, but at least you won't be out of status.

03/02/2007: Filed joint I-751. Day 0

03/05/2007: Package received by CSC. Day 3

03/08/2007: Check cashed. Day 6

03/29/2007: Biometrics Appointment 1. (had to reschedule this) Day 27

04/11/2007: Biometrics Appointment 2. Day 40

04/19/2007: Card production ordered E-mail received. Day 48

04/23/2007: Petition approved E-mail received. Day 52

04/27/2007: Unconditional green card arrived!! Day 56

thanks guys. i got it sent off. i included:

taxes for 04, 05, 06

insurance - health and car

daughters birth cert

copy of both our drivers license (to show same address)

copy of lease for the past two years, and a letter stating we have been residing there since late 2004.

some other ####### that i can't remember right now.

i guess some of the others were right - if they want more info they will send a RFE. my main worry right now should be meeting the deadline.
