Travel abroad and I-751

My wife's Conditional GC expires in July and we will be applying for I-751 in April/May. She has to travel abroad for 4 months in Feb and be back before June. My question is this:

  1. Does she be physically present in the states to apply for I-751?
  2. At the least I'd assume she has to be present here for the Biometrics appointment. Typically when do they schedule the biometrics after I-751 is submitted? If she gets the Biometrics appointment before her June return, we may have to advance her return date.
  3. Does the above timeline work ok?

Thanks

Maddy

It looks like biometrics are usually 4-6 weeks after you submit the I-751. You may wish to adjust your submission to about one month before she returns from overseas...

We just don't travel when we are obligated to submit forms, get that biometrics appointment, then free to travel. You do have to schedule your life around the USCIS if you want your spouse to stay here.

I-751 was terrible for us as well as for everyone else, US citizenship was only a three month commitment. Actually a three month and three week commitment, for my wife, did not have same day oath with that old office manager. New manager started same day oath for my stepdaughter.

In your case it would be much simpler if you wife starts applying after she returns from her trip in June.

This sounds logical and a better option for us.

From reading the guide and several posts, it seems to me that as long as we apply for I-751 before 4 weeks of Conditional GC Expiry date, we are ok.

This 4 weeks is to get the NOA and the Biometrics appointment. Since NOA extends the card by 1 year and the NOA seems to come within a week or two after applying I-751, I am guessing we are ok with 4 weeks early application.

Any thoughts? Or, are we cutting too close?
